"You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children's children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done."

Troy Polamalu - One Of the NFL's Very Best

Troy has been a Christian since college. After he entered the NFL in 2003, he's worked hard to maintain good character and not allow fame to get the best of him.

"Pride is tough," Polamalu said. "I don't think there's anywhere in the Scriptures through the saints lives where pride was ever a positive characteristic of anybody. That kind of egotism is a really tough struggle, especially in this business and this entertainment business that we have. It's a big struggle of mine."

Although pride can be a struggle for any athlete, Polamalu says that it's not the obvious things that are the hardest to deal with.

"It's like the big things that are the easiest to turn away from," he said. "It's like the accumulation of small things... [the devil's] strategy's always to be very subtle and continue to build on top of that evil seed that he planted."
