"You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children's children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done."

Gun Control Debate Continues - Larry Pratt versus Neera Tanden

Neera Tanden (born 1970) is the President of Center for American Progress, a role she assumed in November 2011.

After graduating from Yale Law School, Tanden has worked on domestic policy both on Capitol Hill and in think tanks. She helped the 2008 Hillary Rodham Clinton campaign shape its policy proposals, and worked on President Bill Clinton's for new energy policies, health-care reforms, as well as her plan to end the Iraq War.

Neera Tanden was the domestic policy director for Barack Obama's campaign.

"People say the reason Obama wouldn't call Clinton is because he doesn't like him. The truth is, Obama doesn't call anyone, and he's not close to almost anyone. It's stunning that he's in politics, because he really doesn't like people."
