Lurita Doan - Obama Has No Faith

Acts of faith are performed each day in this country, and we are all the better for it. But sadly, Barack Obama does not seem to have faith in the American system, nor does he believe in American exceptionalism, nor does he believe that Americans can make it on their own without government handouts.

In short, Obama doesn’t have faith in us.

Faith has become an inflammatory topic in the 2012 election. In policy, speeches and campaign ads, the president has used faith as a means to demagogue his Republican opponent. Faith has been used by the left-wing extremists as a diversionary tactic, to attack Catholics and divert attention from a floundering economy. Faith has been used by Democrats as a political tactic to try to turn women against the Republican party. But, faith plays an even bigger role in the 2012 election than Democrats may realize because every day, the president shows a lack of faith that reveals his disdain for America.

For example, Barack Obama does not seem to understand that every small business that opens its door is the result of a profound act of faith. An entrepreneur believes in himself and his idea enough to take the risks, sometime to use his life’s savings, to create a better life.

Each time a business hires a new employee, it is an act of faith shown by both parties—the business believes that it can support the increased staff costs and will grow enough to make the expense worthwhile. The employee shows faith that the business will keep its doors open and offer opportunities for upward mobility.

But each small business also shows its faith when it counts on its government to create a climate with policies that support and encourage that growth.

Obama has shown that he doesn’t have faith in small businesses or the judgment of entrepreneurs. Instead he believes that only the government can make wise investment decisions or hire the unemployed.

Obama has shown that he doesn’t have faith that investors will do the wise things on their own. And so, he urges his Administration to invent even more restrictive mindboggling regulations al l designed to further the government’s ability to manage, direct, and ultimately control private enterprise.

Obama has shown that he doesn’t have faith in his fellow American to provide charitably, despite decades of evidence that Americans are the most generous people, the most philanthropically-inclined people, on the history of the world.

We are a nation of faith. America was first discovered, in a profound act of faith, by an explorer, Columbus, who sailed west at a time when most people believed the world was flat. Columbus’ belief, that the world was not flat, was an act of faith that made our great nation possible.

The colonists who came to America had faith that the new world would be different than the old world. They had faith that with hard work and perseverance, they could build a better life for themselves and their family.

Our founding fathers showed their faith in the principles that founded this great nation—to the point where they were willing to lay down their lives to break from England in a belief that the American system of government that they were creating was worth the sacrifice and would stand the test of time. But, Obama doesn’t seem to have any faith in the founding fathers’ belief in limited government.

Abraham Lincoln had faith in the union of the states and fought harder than any during the civil war to keep the nation together, insisting on pardons for Confederate soldiers and determined to move the nation past the great divide of the civil war.

Our nation showed its faith when we sent men to the moon, in an act of faith, so daring, so breathtaking in its scope that it is heartbreaking that our current, faithless presidential leadership has now cancelled the program.

Faith in the future, faith in our children, faith in a better life, faith that one man can make a difference—these are some of the immeasurable gifts that our country gives to the world each day. Our country, its origins, its innovation and its continued success inspire others to action and offers hope to the oppressed throughout the world. Our country is a beacon that attracts people from countless nations to our shores in the hopes of a better life.

Our great leaders and past presidents understood that America is a nation of faith and called upon that faith to bolster the nation during times of hardship.

On the eve of the D-Day Invasion, knowing that America was involved in a great struggle President Roosevelt prayed not for a quick victory, but for faith:”Oh Lord, give us faith. Give us faith in thee; faith in our sons; faith in each other; faith in our united crusade. Let not the keenness of our spirit ever be dulled."

There is a wide and growing gulf between our current president and the American people, and that chasm is all about faith, for clearly, Obama has little faith in Americans as a people, capable of all things great and good.

Faith is frightening to Obama because with faith comes hope, and with hope comes independence and a belief in the future, a belief that difficult deeds can be done, and frontiers can be conquered. In sharp contrast, Barack Obama believes that Americans should place all of their hope and faith in the government rather than in themselves.

America is a faith-based nation, and whether the president likes it or not, our country is all the better for it.

Lurita Doan - Public Relations - A Public Fraud in Federal Agencies

President Obama may lack chops in many areas—job creation, growing the economy, managing the cost of fuel and food—but, he is a master at political strategy and excels in the art of misdirection.

Obama has used controversies such as the birth-control/insurance mandate in February to divert attention away from a Bureau of Labor Statistics’ report which showed that there are approximately 16 million unemployed Americans, 30% of whom have been unemployed for over two years. And, Obama’s recent defense of his so-called energy policy seems intended to distract Americans from the fact that gas prices are rising even as the economy groans under the Administration’s spending spree causing $1.3 trillion dollars annually in deficits along with a ballooning of the public debt to $15.5 trillion dollars.

It is nothing short of breathtaking that Team Obama continues to pile on more debt, continues the false promises to supporters that continued government subsidies and entitlements can be maintained, and delays any honest reform. And most startling of all, as our nation moves ever closer to a Greece-style default, Barack Obama employs his considerable political skills to masquerade his disastrous economic policies to try and fool American voters.

Americans might be used to politicians spinning reality to help them get re-elected, but we have rarely seen as sophisticated a public relations campaign as that which has now mobilized the full federal government.

Many Americans may be unaware that federal agencies have robust public relations departments comprised of both career federal employees and supplemented by one or more outside public relations’ firms. These PR employees and contractors do more than just manage federal agencies’ websites, they also orchestrate elaborate public relations’ strategies designed to highlight political appointees’ supposed accomplishments and promote the illusion of positive advances in the Obama Administration’s plans.

Taxpayer costs exceed $1 billion. Worse yet, Team Obama seems intent on pouring even more taxpayer resources into official government propaganda.

Consider that even in an era of supposedly tight federal spending levels, and even with Congressional pressure growing to eliminate wasteful and redundant programs, business is good within the world of government’s Public Affairs.

Federal agencies have been hiring even more Public Affairs and media experts, even as they face hiring freezes in other departments. Within many Federal Agencies, expensive “buy-out” policies are being implemented to reduce the bloated bureaucracy. Yet, within the Public Affairs’ divisions of the federal government, the hiring goes on and on.

Ever wonder why government agencies are spending so much on advertising and public affairs?

Public Affairs officers have been elevated to senior positions within federal agencies. Agencies are spending billions of dollars on advertising, telling other agencies and “spinning” Americans on their “good news stories”, and what a great job they are doing with the taxpayer dollars.

Government trade magazines feature large, online and in-print advertisements from federal agencies, and, in return, those trade magazines and newspapers feature puff pieces on agency executives.

Federal agencies are also mandated to sell their goods and services to one another. Yet, many agencies spend millions of dollars, annually, in conferences, in commercial publications and in promotional materials and tschotkes to market one another.

Of course, these agencies also spend millions of dollars to market the “successes” of the agencies’ leaders, often paving the way for prestigious, revolving-door, jobs after leaving office, such as the recent Jake Siewert (counselor and former press secretary) transition from Obama Administration official to Goldman Sachs executive.

Never before has a president marshaled so many public relations pieces in an orchestrated propaganda campaign, seemingly designed solely to effect his reelection. The public funds which the Obama Administration is spending on public relations is a misuse of taxpayer money and congress ought to get tough with the Administration.

Of course, these expenditures are not easily identified since they show up in a variety of places under various line items in an agency’s budget. These expenditures tend to be buried in the PC&B (Payroll, Compensation and Benefits) budget lines, or are buried in other “contractor” costs and ODC (Other Direct Costs) lines in the agencies’ budgets.

A carefully worded request from congress, itemizing queries for costs for web site development, website “presence”, online “subscription” services and contractor paid “promotional” costs and conference fees would also reveal that the widespread PR efforts of the Obama Administration runs into the billions of dollars.

A recent news report analyzed the stupendous effort the Obama presidential campaign is investing in online marketing efforts utilizing personal data collected via internet sites and mobile devices. But, when combined with the phenomenal growth in the ‘spin” people and resources employed in federal agencies, it becomes clear that Obama is managing, below the surface of public attention, to mobilize enormous assets within the federal government to support his campaign re-election strategy.

It is also important to remember that Team Obama is not bound, as other businesses are, by the same “truth in advertising” laws, designed to protect consumers. Nor is Team Obama required to “substantiate its claims”. So, instead they spend lots of time in self-serving puffery, telling Americans how wonderful the Obama Administration is and what a great job they are doing.

How much better for all of us if Obama would spend time tackling the real and pressing problems of the day—unemployment, rising deficits, rising energy prices, reduced trade and reduced manufacturing growth.

The sad part of all of this is that, given the choice, the Obama Administration has shown they would rather spend their time (along with a healthy dose of taxpayer money) spinning the story rather than solving the problems that Obama was elected to solve.

Obama has told us he has studied Abraham Lincoln and is familiar with Lincoln’s wisdom that “you can fool some of the people, all of the time”. Pity that the president’s Lincoln scholarship ended prematurely and he did understand the rest of Lincoln’s wisdom, that “You can’t fool all the people all the time”.

Barack Obama clearly thinks he can.

Doug Giles - Praying for This Nation Like Our Butts Depended on It

For the Christian who has been paying even minimal attention to the state of our union and its current crappy condition, it’s easy to see that our nation is in deep weeds from a God blessed standpoint.

We’re pretty much past the point of no return. If you don’t believe me, read this book. We’re in trouble, folks—and on every front. Our kids will be particularly screwed.

Yep, from an economic, political, cultural and spiritual perspective, if something is not done to reverse this nation’s course (and muy pronto) then my advice to you is to start taking yoga because one has to be fairly limber, I hear, to kiss one’s own butt good-bye. Oh, and another “suggestion” would be to teach your kids Chinese, TexMex and Farsi because those’ll be the main languages of the conquered on our continent.

If things do not change both dramatically and quickly (and to be specific, amended back to our God-honoring intent and constitutional infrastructure) then this country will cease to be the greatest experiment in self governance this planet has ever seen and will morph into a godless tourist spot driven by socialists wet nursing entitlement freaks. Greece is the word.

No civilization has lasted long when there was:
  • This kind of insane debt and spending,
  • A bizarre notion of entitlement,
  • A death of faith,
  • A degeneration of morals,
  • A collapse of civility,
  • A paralysis of the will,
  • A decline in native born population,
  • And unopposed foreign invasion.
Google it if you don’t believe me, as the aforementioned is well known 411 regarding formerly great nations that have devolved into tacky travel destinations.

Hey, America: We’re not invincible. I know it looks like it, but believe it or not, there have been powerful civilizations that are now a cartoon of what they used to be, and it would be the height of hubris to think that this party will never end no matter what we do.

So, what’s a Christian to do? Well, there’s a lot the brethren can do, but to keep this column short I’m going to focus on the power of prayer for the USA. And when I say “prayer” I mean praying for our nation like you’d pray if you were wearing Lady Gaga’s meat dress and had to pass through a pride of peckish lions in the Matetsi.

With the Bible as a guide I say we pull out the prayer of Jabez found in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 and shout it up to heaven for God to rain His favor back down on the States.

Basically, Jabez, whose name means “pain,” didn’t let the bad hand he was dealt keep him from calling out to God for great things. And y’know what, patriots? Neither should we.

Just because we’re in real pain as a nation doesn’t mean we roll up in the fetal position and wet our red, white and blue Pampers. Oh, heck no. Instead, we must go back to our roots, become a vocal and voting threat to all politicians, bolster our commitment to God and country, and pray what old Jabez prayed—namely, to be blessed, to have increased opportunities, to have His hand be with us and to be kept from evil.

Take the next 30 days or 30 years and put your personal prayers on the back burner and do this:
  1. Pray to God that He would reverse this curse we’re under and leave a blessing instead.
  2. Pray this land of opportunity we’ve inherited would continue to be a land of opportunity.
  3. Pray that His mighty hand would be with us instead of against us.
  4. And pray that the evil which is en vogue would cease to be that which characterizes our culture and would be replaced with that which is holy, just and good.
And maybe, just maybe, God will stay our execution and shed His grace on us again.

Please check out this music video that puts the above sentiments to song.

God help us.

Jeannie DeAngelis - Good Enough for Government Work?

The US government has an increasingly notorious reputation for hiring employees whose backgrounds and histories are rather dubious. The feds desire control and authoritative leadership, and yet from Barack Obama to the uniformed, rubber-gloved employee patting down Grandma in the airport, the government has developed a habit of finding and hiring staff that would be better left on the unemployment line.

Take for instance when the US Census Bureau cobbled together a workforce to knock on doors during the "It's in Our Hands" 2010 census. That was when convicted sex offender Frank Kuni was ‘handily' hired to gather demographic information, persuading innocent home dwellers to open the door because he was sporting a government-issued blue writing badge on his uniform. That was scary, but when compared to Indiana US census worker Daniel Miller, who was charged with burglary and rape while proudly representing the US government in the home of a handicapped woman and her elderly mother, Kuni was well behaved.

As evidenced time and again, the government seems willing to give the benefit of the doubt when it comes to things like constitutional credentialing for those seeking the presidency and excusing civic-minded Black Panthers voluntarily participating in Election Day activities by exercising the right to voter intimidation.

A short time ago, an air safety worker controversy arose. It seems that in American airports, from the terminal to the tower passengers are subjected to hazardous situations, thanks to bureaucrats insisting that the flying public place life and limb under the oversight of a system crowded with individuals better qualified to be mopping jail floors.

No one is exempt, including the First Lady. Due to federally-employed air traffic controller ineptitude, Mrs. Obama came dangerously close to having a midair collision with a 200-ton military cargo plane.

Even worse, in an effort to root out potential terrorists, prior to allowing the boarding of planes the federal Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) agency has already hired 65,000 screeners whose job is to pat down airline passengers in search of explosive devices.

In the government's never-ending quest to exhibit nondiscrimination, same-gender security personnel screen small children, paraplegics, and elderly women, one of whom described the humiliating experience in the following way: "If a person touched me like that without my permission, it would be considered criminal sexual assault."

An ABC News producer said, "The woman who checked me reached her hands inside my underwear and felt her way around. It was basically worse than going to the gynecologist."

Small children are warned against allowing strangers to touch their private parts; however, a new prerequisite for going to Disneyland, besides doing your homework and cleaning your room, is to allow federally designated government gropers wearing badges and rubber gloves to violate what should be an inflexible "no touching" rule.

Prior to being violated by strangers, terrified children are reassured not to be afraid because the person doing the pat down is of the same sex. Little girls go on the female groper line and little boys are subjected to extensive man/boy pat downs, a job benefit worthy of posting on the NAMBLA website.

Sex offender census workers, sleepy air traffic controllers, and over-enthusiastic airport security screeners may cause offense to grown ups, but pale in comparison to kindergarteners being felt up by individuals like Transportation Safety Administration Officer Thomas Gordon Jr. of Philadelphia, who apparently has a predilection for child pornography.

The TSA now alleges that the security officer, after putting in a hard day of routinely searching airline passengers, including young boys, "uploaded explicit pictures of young girls to an Internet site on which he also posted a photograph of himself in his TSA uniform" and "distributed more than 100 images of child pornography via Facebook."

In response to accusations, Homeland Security agents, who are tracking right-wing extremists, prolife activists, and ex-military service personnel, took a break from the "Great Central U.S. Shake Out" earthquake preparation initiative to arrest the pedophile who, for the last six years, has been busily handling six year-olds.

"Citing privacy rules, TSA spokeswoman Ann Davis," who is part of the government's effort to deny anyone privacy, "would not say if Gordon has been suspended from his job, but noted that he had been in federal custody since his arrest."

If Barack Obama's "full confidence" in the agency that nearly made him a widower is any indication of what the future holds for sexual deviate Thomas Gordon, after "careful assessment of the facts and the law," Eric Holder will probably drop the charges and Gordon will be back on the job just in time to frisk for summer vacation.

Once again, in the name of safety and security, the American people have been put in jeopardy by a supposedly well-intentioned federal bureaucracy who, all the way up to the White House, employs individuals who are not only unqualified, but many have criminal backgrounds or, in the case of the President, a concealed history at best.

With that in mind, one can't help but wonder what the future holds for a nation whose lives are being placed at the mercy of a government that insists on keeping Americans out of harm's way by placing even the smallest citizen in the position of being manhandled by sexual perverts.

If the past is any indication of what the future holds, inept bureaucrats will continue to improperly vet government employees. Drug addicts will stock pharmacy shelves, hit-and-run drivers will work the licensing window at DMV offices, and illegal aliens will man the phones for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.). Moreover, with government-run health care on the horizon, it'll only be a matter of time before chronically ill patients start dying at the hands of Health and Human Services-hired serial killers saving money in health care costs while dressed in government-issued scrubs.
