"You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children's children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done."

Anderson659 - Arizona Will Require Proof of Citizenship

Donald Trump has reignited the birther issue with president Obama. Many believe that the media shames those who want to see the Obama birth certificate into complacent silence.Obama however, is not the first president to have a citizenship issue that should have, or would have kept him from the office of the presidency.

Chester Arthur was not a US born citizen. Chester Arthur's father was a British subject who became a United states citizen in 1843. Chester Arthur future president of the United states was born in 1829, making him at best case scenario, a dual citizen, and at the time of his birth a British citizen.

It would appear that Chester Arthur pulled a fast one in his time, lying about his parentage history. Athur was ineligible to be president and obviously he knew this, yet went ahead with his fraud. My guess is that there would have been those in the media that knew of his ineligibility in that time and kept quiet or assisted in the lie. Arthur was a Republican, of some reported ill repute, and tied to machine politics at the time.

Greg Dehler, a historian has copies of the microfiches of his parents in his book "Chester Allen Arthur"

If the Obama birth certificate shows he was born in Kenya or outside of the USA, or his father and mother were not naturalized citizens, or Obama was issued an amended birth certificate because he was adopted, he will not be the first to perpetrate a fraud on the American people.

The Arizona legislature just passed a law that awaits the signature of the governor demanding proof of eligibility to be on the ballot in Arizona. I think that proving you hold the qualifications the American people want to hire you to perform is nothing more than basic procedure given the fact the American people may have been fooled twice.

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
