"You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children's children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done."

Mary Fallin Oklahoma Governor Tours Areas Devastated by Tornadoes

There are more heartbreaking stories of loss coming out of Oklahoma today after what Gov. Mary Fallin says has been "a tough week."

So far, the state reports nine fatalities and 60 injuries after up to 12 tornadoes tore through the state, hitting 14 different communities. Fallin declared state of emergencies for many of those communities, in which 60,000 homes remain without electricity.
Still, if there's one ray of hope in a mess of destruction, Fallin says it's the pride that comes from seeing neighbors helping neighbors. "That's one of the great things about Oklahoma," she said.
