"You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children's children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done."

American Shame - Child Prostitution - Playground Documentary

It is estimated that 300,000 children are exploited for sex in the United States.

Human trafficking is not an attractive topic. It's a topic that breathes fear and exhales suffering. A topic that is not discussed across mainstream media quite possibly because of it.

The average age for a child prostitute in the United States is 12 years old and anywhere between the ages of 11 to 17.

For filmmaker Libby Spears, she has devoted almost 10 years uncovering the sex traffic industry in lesser developed countries like the Philippines, South Korea, and Thailand. What she found out while filming there is that the United States is actually "influencing the global demand and growth of the sex trafficking industry." That not only is human trafficking for sex apparent in less developed countries, but it is also "every bit as real in North America."

This Documentary was produced by George Clooney, Grant Heslov, Steven Soderbergh and Libby Spears

There were 636,910 Registered Sex Offenders in 2008, by June 17, 2011 there were 739,853 - a 15.4% increase.
