Huelskamp and Sharpton Go Head-to-Head on the Debt & Spending

Congressman Tim Huelskamp appeared with Rev. Al Sharpton on MSNBC on July 13, 2011, to discuss the debt negotiations. They talked about the President's threat to withhold Social Security, the country's out-of-control spending and borrowing, the debate over raising the debt limit, and what impact taxes have on job creation. Congressman Huelskamp explained how the President has yet to put any actual written details out on his plans to deal with debt.

Social Security Actuary Confirms: Withholding Checks Would be a Political Decision

During a July 13, 2011 Budget Committee hearing Congressman Huelskamp asked Stephen Goss, Chief Actuary for Social Security, for additional information about President Obama's statement the day before that he cannot guarantee that Social Security checks would be mailed August 3. Mr. Goss indicated that the Social Security Administration anticipates issuing checks, but that it will be a decision of the Obama administration as to whether or not the checks are mailed.
