Jeannie DeAngelis - Barack Obama’s Breakfast Spanking

Originally posted at The Blacksphere
Pro-choice/gay marriage Barack Obama angered some constituents when he dragged his sleepy gum-chewing self to the 61st Annual National Prayer Breakfast. While there, Obama quoted Scripture, referenced Jesus’ “nail-scarred hands,” talked about America’s past racism, and predictably made a few jabs at perceived critics. Barack Obama even pled for unity while fostering disunity and suggested the nation exercise humility, while exhibiting none himself.

The President was on the roster with politically incorrect Dr. Ben Carson who gave Obama a respectable prayer breakfast spanking. Carson, a world-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon, was unafraid in Obama’s presence. That’s probably because Dr. Carson has worked on brains just a tiny bit smaller than Barack’s.

For those on the left there’s nothing worse than a black man refusing to play the victim, insisting that his success was achieved through individual freedom and personal responsibility. That’s why the President probably came real close to losing a waffle while listening to Ben share how, against all odds and without government assistance, he overcame poverty, racism, and a violent temper to become a world-renowned neurosurgeon.

Benjamin Carson is a 61-year-old black man raised in Detroit by a single mother who refused to let her sons fail. As a peeved Obama stoically glared at him, Dr. Carson talked of his mother Sonya’s demand that, although unable to read herself, he and his brother Curtis, rather than watch television, read and write book reports.

Once nicknamed the “dumbest kid in the world,” Ben described how books taught him about the individual self-determination “people of great accomplishment” exercise. Those lessons led to an epiphany for Carson: “At that point I didn’t hate poverty anymore, because I knew it was only temporary: I could change that.”

Clearly, Dr. Carson’s idea of ‘change’ is radically different from that of the president. Change for Ben Carson came with the revelation that the best one can be requires hard work and personal responsibility.

Carson dared to touch on America’s “moral decay and fiscal irresponsibility” with Barack Obama, the main contributor to both problems, sitting just a few feet away.

For mathematically-challenged Obama voters who find it hard to grasp the enormity of the nation’s 16.5-trillion-dollar liability, Carson broke it down by explaining that if one were to count “one number per second…it would take “507,000 years … to count to one trillion.” The doctor even brought up tax-free health savings accounts – now that takes a hearty dose of intestinal fortitude!

Ben Carson was not shy about laying out a flat-tax proposal, either. He suggested that if “You make 10 billion dollars, you put in a billion. You make 10 dollars, you put in one.” Then, he cleverly used the flat-tax argument as a springboard to expose the president’s class warfare tactics when he pointed out that “some people” (ahem) say, “That’s not fair! It doesn’t hurt the guy who made 10 billion dollars.”

Dr. Carson then asked, “Where does it say you have to hurt that guy? He just put a billion dollars into the pot!” The 2008 Presidential Medal of Freedom winner should have just turned and spoken directly to the presidential ‘winner’ sitting nearby, who was trying desperately to keep his composure.

Unfortunately, Carson chose not to do that, but the unasked question dangling here is: Why are these two men so different? Both are black males abandoned by their bigamist fathers and raised by single mothers. Each one married an accomplished woman, and both reached the pinnacle of achievement. Yet, despite the fact that Dr. Carson would probably happily release his college transcripts if asked, the differences between the two far outweigh the similarities.

Having performed surgery on a twin in its mother’s womb, Ben saved an unborn child. Barack, both philosophically and monetarily, supports the destruction of the children Dr. Carson saves.

In the first book about himself, Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance, Barack shared his quest for identity, and peppered the journey with references to communist mentors, anti-Semitic pastors, and poetic, possibly made-up tales of racial animosity.

On the other hand, quelling division rather than stoking it, Ben Carson writes uniquely American books with a Christian flavor that inspire people to be all they can be, such as Think Big: Unleashing Your Potential for Excellence. Carson’s recent book America the Beautiful: Rediscovering What Made This Nation Great, was co-authored by his wife, Lacena ‘Candy’ Carson.

Thus far, prolific author Barack Obama has never written a patriotic book with his wife Michelle, who confessed just a few years ago that “for the first time in my adult lifetime I’m really proud of my country.”

Barack Obama likes hanging with Hollywood heavy-hitters like lip-syncing Bey and her hubby Big Pimpin’ Jay. On the other hand, in the 1990s Dr. Carson advised young people that talking about Madonna, Michael Jordan, and Michael Jackson was “not creating the kind of society we want to create.”

At a Randolph-Macon College commencement, Carson shared his views on America’s legacy, admitting that although we’ve made mistakes, “This nation was able to turn around the horrors of civil rights in record time and has created an environment in which anybody…willing to work hard can succeed.”

For the president, hearing sentiments like that coming from a black man had to be super cringe-worthy. That type of straight talk has the power to destabilize Barack Obama politically, because think of it – when a person of Dr. Ben Carson’s caliber receives accolades for his wisdom and successes, it proves that what defines a person in America is character, not color.

All it took was one courageous man to step forward at a Washington DC breakfast event and unabashedly do what the pusillanimous Republican Congress seems unable to do – confront tyranny with truth. Unlike Barack Hussein Obama, Benjamin Solomon Carson exemplifies faith in Jesus and a grateful, patriotic view of America. The doctor accomplished miraculous things by exercising the type of humility the president talks about at prayer breakfasts, but clearly lacks.

In the end, separating Siamese twins joined at the head and successfully performing hemispherectomies by removing half the brain of sick children must have infused Dr. Carson with the type of confidence needed to literally speak truth to power – directly to the President of the United States’ face.

Dr. Jack Wheeler - THE LAW THAT CAN SAVE AMERICA AND PUT OBAMA IN JAIL

Article I, Section 9, Clause 7 of the United States Constitution states:

"No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law; and a regular Statement and Account of the Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money shall be published from time to time."

This is the "Power of the Purse" clause, which Article I, Section 7, Clause 1 makes clear is exclusively held by the House of Representatives:

"All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills."

Actually, there are two "powers of the purse" - to spend money or to deny its being spent. For the US Federal Government to spend any money, one single dime on anything, three things need to happen in this order:
  1. an Appropriation must be authorized and passed by the House,
  2. such Appropriation must then be passed by the Senate (any differences in the House and Senate versions must be reconciled via joint agreement and passage), and finally
  3. be signed into Law by the President.
To deny the federal government the authority to spend any money, one single dime on any program or activity, only one thing needs to happen: the House does not pass an Appropriation for it. Period. Neither the Senate, nor the President, nor the Supreme Court, nor any federal agency secretary or bureaucrat, has the constitutional authority to spend one single dime by themselves, without a majority of the House giving it to them. That is the power of the purse.

There is, however, a problem - a legal problem, not just a psychological one, such as Congressistas being spendaholics or too cowardly to refuse the begging of various constituencies for handouts.

This problem is epitomized by the Senate Republicans' inability to force Harry Reid to pass an annual budget, even though there is a law requiring the Senate to do so. Thanks to Reid's blocking all attempts, the Senate hasn't passed a budget since April, 2009, which clearly violates federal law - the Congressional Budget Act of 1974.

So how come Reid can't be prosecuted? Why can't the Senate Pubs take legal action against him? As Byron York explains, "the Congressional Budget Act of 1974 doesn't have an enforcement mechanism. Lawmakers are required by law to pass a budget each year by April 15, but there's no provision to punish them, or even slightly inconvenience them, if they don't."

So we arrive at what may well be the single most important question to ask in America today.

Given that the current President of the United States seems determined to bypass the House's appropriation authority and spend gigantic sums on whatever programs he wants or enforcing whatever Executive Orders he issues, is there an enforcement mechanism for his violating the power of the purse clauses in the Constitution?

The answer is yes. There is a federal law that specifically codifies the power of the purse clauses, and provides specific punishment for their violation by any "officer or employee of the United States government."

This punishment is "suspension from duty without pay or removal from office," and up to two years in federal prison.

This Federal law is: The Antideficiency Act. The original version was enacted into law in 1884. Although revised occasionally since to make its meaning clear in terms of "modern" language, its purpose remains: to be the enforcement mechanism implementing Article I, Sections 7 & 9. It was last revised during the Reagan presidency, and is codified as Title 31 of the United States Code (31 U.S.C. §§ 1341, 1342, 1349, and 1350).

§1341 states:

1) An officer or employee of the United States Government or of the District of Columbia government may not-

(A) make or authorize an expenditure or obligation exceeding an amount available in an appropriation or fund for the expenditure or obligation;

(B) involve either government in a contract or obligation for the payment of money before an appropriation is made unless authorized by law;

§1342 specifies that the "unless authorized by law" exception in 1341 (1)(B) applies only to "emergencies involving the safety of human life or the protection of property," which does "not include ongoing, regular functions of government the suspension of which would not imminently threaten the safety of human life or the protection of property."

§1349 states:

"An officer or employee of the United States Government or of the District of Columbia government violating section 1341(a) or 1342 of this title shall be subject to appropriate administrative discipline including, when circumstances warrant, suspension from duty without pay or removal from office."

§1350 states:

"An officer or employee of the United States Government or of the District of Columbia government knowingly and willfully violating section 1341(a) or 1342 of this title shall be fined not more than $5,000, imprisoned for not more than 2 years, or both."

There is a lot of brave talk coming from Capitol Hill Republicans on forcing a government shutdown by not raising the debt ceiling until Zero agrees to major spending cuts. Zero is riposting with threats to raise the ceiling unilaterally, invoking Section 4 of the 14th Amendment - "The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law... shall not be questioned."

On Sunday (1/06), Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) demolished this argument in a handful of words.

In addition, Zero's bureaucratic goons have issued a blizzard of new rules and regs, while he himself threatens to issue a blizzard of Executive Orders for "gun-control" in overt violation of the 2nd Amendment.

In other words, Zero plainly intends to spend whatever money he wants, debt ceiling or no, Congressional appropriation or no. If and when he does so, he needs to be prosecuted in violation of the Antideficiency Act.

And criminally prosecuted, for he will have, per §1350, knowingly and willfully violated it. Note, however, that §1349 only requires violation of the act (without the knowing/willful qualifier) for the perpetrator to be suspended and removed from office.

Eric Holder, as the most corrupt and dishonest Attorney General in US history, will of course not prosecute Zero - he will act as his defense attorney. But the House as a whole, individual senators and congressfolk, conservative legal foundations et al, may initiate law suits against the president.

There are 30 Republican Governors now. If a number of them banded together, with their States suing Zero for violation of the Antideficiency Act, then, under the Original Jurisdiction clause of the Constitution - Article III, Section 2, Clause 2: "In all Cases... in which a State shall be Party, the supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction" - the case must go directly to the Supremes, bypassing all lower courts.

So we don't even need lily-livered Congress Pubs, just Pub Governors, a number of whom do have the moxy.

Granted, since Chief Justice Roberts has become Obama's poodle, the SCOTUS may not find the president guilty. Nonetheless, prosecution of the president under the Antideficiency Act is a far easier way to remove him from office than impeachment.

Impeachment of Obama would be a high bar for the House, and verdict of guilty in a subsequent trial by the Dem-controlled Senate an impossibility. So the only possible way to remove him from office is via Antideficiency Act violations. Further, such violations can put him in jail.

In sum:

*The Constitution explicitly states that the President and the Executive Branch can only spend money first appropriated by the House.

*The enforcement mechanism for violation of this Constitutional provision is the Antideficiency Act, under which the president may be personally prosecuted as an officer of the United States government, and if found guilty, may be removed from office and imprisoned for up to two years.

*Our current president has indicated his intention to blatantly, knowingly and willfully violate the Antideficiency Act.

Therefore, it is incumbent upon Republican leaders in the House and Senate to publicly announce and repeatedly state their intention to seek the criminal prosecution of President Barack Hussein Obama should he violate the Antideficiency Act, in response to the House's refusal to 1) raise the debt ceiling, 2) pass a Continuing Resolution in lieu of a Federal Budget, or 3) provide funding for the implementation of Presidential Executive Orders, particularly those regarding gun-control.

Republican Governors and conservative legal foundations should then join in support.

We have the Constitution and the specific federal law to put an end to the Tyranny of Zero. It's time to go on offense. Mr. Obama must be given a choice: obey the Antideficiency Act or be thrown out of office and go to jail.

Lawrence O'Donnell's Bible Rant - Nobody including Obama believes in the Bible

Pastor Louie Giglio of Passion City Church in Atlanta was given the boot from Barack Obama's upcoming inauguration ceremony.

Think Progress uncovered an audio file of a Giglio sermon (1990's), where Giglio called homosexuality a sin and proposed conversion therapy as a remedy for homosexuality. Giglio also defined the gay rights movement as one that “is not a benevolent movement, it is a movement to seize by any means necessary the feeling and the mood of the day, to the point where the homosexual lifestyle becomes accepted as a norm in our society and is given full standing as any other lifestyle, as it relates to family.

Addie Whisenant, the spokesperson for The Presidential Inaugural Committee, issued the following statement about Pastor Giglio:

"We were not aware of Pastor Giglio’s past comments at the time of his selection and they don’t reflect our desire to celebrate the strength and diversity of our country at this Inaugural… As we now work to select someone to deliver the benediction, we will ensure their beliefs reflect this administration’s vision of inclusion and acceptance for all Americans.”

Apparently, only those who reject the same parts of the Bible that President Obama rejects, are welcome to his inauguration.

Michelle Malkin - Fox and Friends Thursday

Vice President Joe Biden, whose gun violence task force is scheduled to meet with representatives of the NRA and Walmart today, raised some eyebrows Wednesday by expressing the possibility that President Obama could implement some gun control measures using an executive order.

Fox and Friends talked to Michelle Malkin this morning about Biden’s remarks and the gun control issue overall. They also touched on the subject of the czars appointed by President Obama when he first took office and where some of them are now.

Malkin made the point that the Obama administration has not hesitated to use executive orders to implement policies over the last four years – specifically on the environment and immigration – so “why the heck” wouldn’t he try to do it with gun control?

“I don’t see why anyone would dismiss the kind of extreme measures that people have contemplated in the past (on gun control). What’s most dangerous is the way that they couch their rhetoric in what seems to be moderation. Right? Now they’re talking about ‘gun safety’ instead of ‘gun control’ and when they harp about ‘assault weapons’ or ‘ammunition,’ what they’re really talking about – and we’ve had this kind of candor before from the gun grabbers – is talking about the kind of handguns that ordinary Americans use to protect themselves,” said Malkin.

"I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth."

Jeannie DeAngelis - Obama’s Vanishing Lead with Women Voters

Originally posted at American Thinker
The Democratic party likes to portray itself as seeing women as equal to men. Yet it’s the Democrats who think they can woo female voters by dangling free contraceptives in front of them like a carrot luring a donkey.

For months America has been hearing how it’s President Barack Obama who has the estrogen vote sewn up. Now, according to a recent USA TODAY/Gallup Poll, America comes to find out that Mitt Romney is currently leading Barry the Birth Control President in the top battleground states, and the women he thought were willing to sell the country down the river for an IUD are driving that lead.

In 2008, a large contribution to Barack Obama’s 13-point margin of victory came from women swept up in the euphoria of a wave of Oprah Winfrey flag-waving hysteria. In 2012 it appears that Winfrey and her tear-soaked eyelashes are sitting this one out, and so are all the women who followed her lead.

According to a recent article in USA TODAY entitled Swing States poll: Women push Romney into lead, Susan Page writes:
“As the presidential campaign heads into its final weeks, the survey of voters in 12 crucial swing states finds female voters much more engaged in the election and increasingly concerned about the deficit and debt issues that favor Romney.”
Much to the chagrin of the mainstream media, feminist activist Sandra Fluke, and Obama shills like ingénue Scarlett Johansson and Eva ‘Border Security Expert’ Longoria, “the Republican nominee now ties the president among women who are likely voters, 48%-48% while he leads by 12 points among men.”

According to USA TODAY/Gallup Romney now leads among likely voters in the swing states Obama thought he had in the can a few weeks ago. If this keeps up, it looks like Barack Obama is going to have to give away free weed whackers to the fellas just to stay in the running.

These more recent polls are consistent with a national Pew Poll taken after the first presidential debate that showed Barack Obama’s 18-point lead among women had dissolved; leaving him tied 47%-47% with Romney among likely female voters. In addition, married women, who tend to vote Republican, are more enthusiastic this election cycle than unmarried women, who tend to vote Democratic.

Whatever the reason, Democratic pollster Celinda Lake admitted that since his strong performance in the first debate, “In every poll, we’ve seen a major surge among women in favorability for Romney.” According to Ms. Lake, “Women went into the debate actively disliking Romney… came out thinking he might understand their lives and might be able to get something done for them.” Presidential prospects for Mitt Romney have only continued to improve after the second and third debates.

Why? Because as a rule, the fairer sex is generally more discerning and Mitt Romney just doesn’t display the demeanor of guy who would leave a woman “dying on the floor” as Nancy Pelosi predicted he would if he’s elected – quite the contrary. On the other hand, without those Styrofoam Greek columns, during the first debate in Denver Barack Obama looked too weak and disinterested to aid a woman even if she was “dying on the floor.”

Romney pollster Neil Newhouse also maintains that “The first debate had a significant impact on these voters as they watched it and Governor Romney appeared nothing like the candidate that was essentially a caricature in the advertising by the Obama campaign. It’s these voters who began to realize that the picture being painted of him was not reality.” In the 2012 campaign season, misconceptions about the two candidates are being revealed, especially the hyped-up impression of Barack Obama, who’s turning out to be the world’s emptiest suit.

Suffice it to also say that working women are not impressed by a man who touts signing an equal pay bill while paying his own female staff roughly 18% less than his male staff. Moreover, despite the fact that our “abortion extremist” President is convinced that the way to a girl’s heart is promising free contraceptives and abortion on demand, the truth is that what impresses most women is a confident air of leadership that displays the character traits of strength, stability and security.

Hence, when compared to President Obama’s three debate performances, Mitt Romney’s poised but assertive, polite, take-charge steadiness makes him look like a knight in shining armor to female voters who are clearly paying attention.

In the end, as shocking as it may seem to Barack Obama, it’s the competence and ability to turn the economy around, create jobs, and reestablish national security that mean much more to American women than being outfitted by the White House for a lifetime of sex without consequence.

Jeannie DeAngelis - Binder Bimbos or Benghazi?

Originally posted at American Thinker
A newly-formed band of Binder Bimbos is working diligently to convince America that Mitt Romney demeaned women during the second debate when he described how he, as governor of Massachusetts, went about balancing his male-dominated Cabinet with women. Responding to a question on pay equity, Romney said, “I had the chance to pull together a Cabinet, and all the applicants seemed to be men. I went to a number of women’s groups and said, ‘Can you help us find folks?’ and they brought us whole binders full of women.”

Like salivating wolves waiting to pounce on prey, liberal women have spent lots of time lying in wait for Mitt Romney to utter anything at all that could be misconstrued to prove he’s a woman-hating troglodyte. Thus far, the best they’ve come up with is “binders.”

Erica Payne, progressive public policy expert, commentator, author, and founder of the Agenda Project, appeared on the Bill O’Reilly show where she stretched the Binder Bimbo idiocy so far that she likened Romney’s debate comment to an Arab sheikh flipping the pages of a binder looking for women to stock his harem. After she said it, even Erica looked a bit embarrassed for proposing such a ridiculous analogy.

Meanwhile, the Binder Bimbos are in full attack mode. Yet oddly enough, they have not condemned the women’s groups who delivered the “binders full of women” to the Massachusetts governor. Worse yet, while out trawling for GOP offensive words and actions, these same women seem to have zero problems with Barack Obama calling the brutal slaughter of four Americans “not optimal.” But then again, these are the same soulless individuals who protest “binders full of women” and applaud bio-hazard bins full of aborted babies.

Barack Obama’s now infamous “not optimal” comment was made recently during a Jon Stewart interview. Stewart posed a question that began, “I would say and even you would admit it was not the optimal response,” about the Obama administration’s muddled communication after the deadly attack in Benghazi, to which the president coldly retorted with what he no doubt thought was a clever twist on Jon’s use of the word “optimal” by saying, “If four Americans get killed, it’s not optimal.”

Anyway, to Barack Obama’s detriment, his emotionless response has now married the carelessly thought-out words “not optimal” with dead Americans in much the same way Romney-hating women are now associating themselves with three-ring binders.

Yet, amid all the binder blather is a broken-hearted woman named Pat Smith who lost her son. Pat is the mother of Sean Smith, one of four diplomats that included former Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty and Ambassador Christopher Stevens, all of whom were killed during the raid on the consulate in Benghazi.

Mrs. Smith welcomed her son home in a coffin at Dover Air Force Base and continues to maintain that the truth about what really happened to her child is painfully slow in coming.

Speaking from her home in California, Mrs. Smith, 72, who actually has something more serious than binders to be upset about, described herself as being in “pure hell” since she lost Sean. Expounding upon Obama’s “not optimal” comment, Pat said “It was a disrespectful thing to say and I don’t think it’s right. How can you say somebody being killed is not very optimal? I don’t think the President has the right idea of the English language.”

Pat Smith may be too respectful to admit it, but Barack Obama lacks the right idea about a lot more than the English language. However, what Mrs. Smith did do was take the President to task by saying, “It’s insensitive to say my son is not very optimal – he is also very dead.” Then the distraught mother admitted that “I’ve not been ‘optimal’ since he died and the past few weeks have been pure hell.”

Sean Smith’s mother concluded her comments by offering a candid assessment of Barack Obama’s Comedy Central interview when she said “There’s a lot of stupid things that have been said about my son and what happened and this is another one of them.”

In light of Obama’s callousness, a question needs to be posed to indignant Binder Bimbos everywhere: In the scheme of poorly chosen words, which is worse, “binders full of women,” or the Commander-in-Chief describing the death of four men in service to America as “not optimal?”

The answer to the question is clear. Instead of pointing out the ongoing insensitivity being shown toward a San Diego mother mourning her dead son, on Joe Scarborough’s MSNBC “Morning Joe” talk show Binder Bimbo Mika Brzezinski chose to blast Mitt Romney for the “binders full of women” statement. Brzezinski, who is likely planning to vote “like [her] lady parts depend on it,” fumed at Romney about his attempts to recruit female cabinet members in Massachusetts. Mika told a disagreeing Joe that “It just happens to be a little bit insulting that he had to make up a story about trying to help women because he couldn’t find one on his own,” she said. “That’s kind of a problem.”

No – Mika, if you and the rest of the Binder Bimbos are so desperate to find a problem, how about focusing on a dishonest president who, for political expediency, told a made-up story to cover up a terrorist attack in Libya on 9/11? Now, as a result of that deceitfulness, Barack Obama’s once optimal prospects for reelection have been downgraded to “not optimal.”

Jon McNaughton - The Forgotten Man

Against the background of a darkening sky, all of the past Presidents of the United States gather before the White House, as if to commemorate some great event. In the left hand corner of the painting sits a man. That man, with his head bowed appears distraught and hopeless as he contemplates his future. Some of the past Presidents try to console him while looking in the direction of the modern Presidents as if to say, "What have you done?"

Many of these modern Presidents, seemingly oblivious to anything other than themselves, appear to be congratulating each other on their great accomplishments. In front of the man, paper trash is blowing in the wind. Crumpled dollar bills, legislative documents, and, like a whisper—the U.S. Constitution beneath the foot of Barack Obama.

Lurita Doan - Obama--The Black Man's Burden

Barack Obama was a no-show at the recent 103rd NAACP conference, but, clearly, he is being given a pass by the NAACP leadership. Checking the president's schedule, apparently there was nothing so pressing that he should have been unable to attend the meeting in Texas, but instead, he relegated responsibilities of the annual NAACP meeting to the vice president.

If Barack Obama cannot attend the annual NAACP meeting, in an election year, on a day when he has no other pressing duties, when he has the opportunity to address almost 10,000 attendees, then how can it be a surprise to anyone that during the Obama Administration, Black Americans have experienced more set-backs than at any time in the past 30 years?

Mitt Romney, the Republican candidate, showed up, spoke, and was booed.

Three reason come to mind regarding the president's absence. Perhaps President Obama didn't attend because there was no significant, multi-million dollar fundraiser attached to the convention—after all, it seems that in recent months, most of Obama's appearances are in connection with fundraising for his presidential campaign. Perhaps Mr. Obama doesn't have time for any activity that doesn't have a direct bearing on the bottom line of his campaign war chest.

Another possible reason for the Obama no-show leads one to think that George Bush may have been correct back in 2004 when he asserted that Democrats seem to be taking the Black vote for granted. Democrats assume that Black Americans will vote Democrat without Democrat leaders having to make any effort. So Team Obama may have figured that there was no reason to appeal to the black vote, when it is assumed that blacks will always, reliably vote for them, regardless of an endless string of domestic, economic, and foreign policy failures. After all, elite Black leaders long ago ensured that any Black Americans who does not endorse the Democrat's ideology are promptly demonized or called a traitor to their race.

But perhaps the most telling reason for Obama's absence can be found in the government statistics concerning the Black American experience in the United States after three and a half years of his presidency. Unemployment for Black Americans is at 14.4% while unemployment among teenagers is at 24%. 72% of children in the Black community are born to unwed mothers. The Black American drop-out rate from high school is at 40%, and incarceration among Black American males is at almost 10%. Median household income declined 2.3% and home ownership is down too.

Put bluntly, no other ethnic group in America has suffered more than Black Americans during the Obama Administration. Another four years of Obama leadership doesn't promise anything different and existing trend lines marking the deterioration of Black civil society will likely continue. Of course, Obama didn't show.

The NAACP should not give the president a pass. They should not give themselves one either.

W.E.B DuBois was one of the founders of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Dr. DuBois was the first African-American (DuBois advocated hyphenation-" the destiny of the race could be conceived as leading neither to assimilation nor separatism but to proud, enduring hyphenation.") to earn a doctorate from Harvard, and advocated for advanced education as a means for the Black community to achieve advancement. Consider how far the NAACP has distanced itself from that vision. Black students have a 40% high school dropout rate, while the NAACP shamefully and blindly hitches itself to preserving the status quo of poor schools and the teachers unions.

Dr. DuBois fought hard for interracial marriages, supporting miscegenation laws in every state, not because he advocated for interracial marriages but because he believed that allowing the marriages prevented rendering "colored girls absolutely helpless for the lust of white men" who might seduce and impregnate Black women, and then not marry them. I feel sure that Dr. Dubois did not imagine that the Black community would turn on itself, with generations of unwed mothers and 70% of Black children born to them.

Democrat leaders, pandering to the Black community, bribing them with promises of ever-increasing entitlements and hand-outs is not a good thing, and it is not what NAACP founders envisioned. This path of endless entitlements is, as F.A. Hayek explained, the road to serfdom.

Any honest assessment of the impact caused by these handouts and misguided government programs will show that they have cut terribly into the fabric of the Black community , and are dooming subsequent generations of Black Americans to a future filled with poverty, squalor and ignorance.

The NAACP audience booed Mitt Romney when he promised school vouchers. But that seems to be influenced more by the powerful public school teachers' union lobby rather by a desire to do what is best for Black children. Having more education choices available to Black children is an opportunity that Dr. Dubois would have applauded, since he believed strongly that the "Talented Tenth", an educated elite in the Black community would be needed to create Black leaders.

In 2004, George W. Bush was attacked when he talked about the "soft bigotry of low expectations", and Democrat-led cries of racism abounded.

It seems that whenever anyone, without pandering and without promising handouts, attempts to address the terrible issues facing the Black community, then Democrats and Black leaders levy charges of racism. But, at some point, individuals in the Black community needs to be told some hard truths and must be held accountable for their actions without playing the race card or the blame game.

I don't know-- perhaps that kind of objectivity is no longer possible in this county--though I truly hope it is not.

But, 24.4% unemployment among any identity group is unacceptable in a great nation. 70% of children being born to unwed mothers is also unacceptable, no matter what color your skin is. 10% incarceration of any identity group is unacceptable in a country with a legitimate civil contract.

When taken together, the grim reality is that these facts show a societal breakdown on a massive scale.

But the power and the strength to change these statistics, to change these lifestyle choices and to changes the sad outcomes of those choices must come from within the Black community and cannot be dependent upon hand-outs from Democrat plantation masters.

The National Urban League's annual convention, which Barack Obama will attend in two weeks, has as its theme, "Employment and Education Empower the Nation". One can only imagine the two-stepping, the bald lies and the verbal bribes that will be required to smother the reality of the cold, hard facts about how badly the Black community has fared under the presidency of Barack Obama.

No doubt that's why he didn't show at the NAACP--there are only so many uphill marathons a man can run in a month.

Crystal Wright - Romney Woos NAACP with Passion and Conviction

Lost in all the chatter about Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney speaking to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) was that Romney demonstrated a desire to earn the black vote while President Obama could care less about it. It should be noted by black liberals that Obama didn’t think the oldest black advocacy organization was worthy of him changing his schedule to address the NAACP’s annual convention.

While introducing Romney, Bishop Graves, a member of the NAACP, pointed out it’s customary for presidential candidates to address members of the organization. But the nation’s first black president didn’t have time to waste in his re-election campaign, asking or even pandering to black Americans for their vote, despite the fact over 95% voted for Obama in 2008.

In contrast, Romney began his NAACP speech by telling blacks every vote counts and he knows support must “be asked for and earned.” In heart felt, humble remarks that lasted a little more than 20 minutes, Romney made the case why black Americans should give him a shot in 2012. As a prior skeptic on the speech, I was impressed.

This was one of the rare instances in this campaign where Romney gave us more than words; he revealed a personality and emotion, things that make a candidate real to voters. Romney not only acknowledged the challenges of the post Civil Rights Movement and the election of President Obama, something the Republican Party has failed to do, though ironically Republicans were responsible for passing the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

“If someone had told us in the 1950s or 60s that a black citizen would serve as the forty-fourth president, we would have been proud and many would have been surprised,” said Romney. But the most poignant moment was when Romney admitted, “Many barriers remain” for blacks and “old inequities persist. In some ways, the challenges are even more complicated than before.”

Romney made a smart move in recognizing the ongoing economic and equality disparities plaguing blacks. He then told the crowd why they should vote for him. Without directly linking Obama’s name to the dire straights blacks find themselves in under his failed policies, Romney noted black unemployment rose in June from 13.6% to 14.4% and is almost twice the national average. While blacks represent 17% of public school students, Romney said 42% of blacks are trapped in failing schools.

Romney declared “we need a new plan” and it starts with the promoting the family. Citing a Brookings Institution study, Romney said the probability of being poor is 76% if you don’t finish high school, get a job and wait until 21 to get married. If you do all those things, your chance of becoming poor is just 2%. Romney said he would promote policies that uplift families and support traditional marriage, to which the NAACP crowd applauded. Remember Obama’s support of gay marriage angered many blacks and black pastors, who have threatened to vote against him in November.

With respect to school reform, Romney said as a champion of charter schools and school choice, he is aligned with black Americans on the issue while Obama and Democrats consistently oppose vouchers, charters and choice. While Governor of Massachusetts, Romney said he worked with black leaders to keep charter schools open after the Democrat legislature voted to close them and highlighted a program he created where the top 25% of high school graduates were offered full four year scholarships to Massachusetts colleges and universities.

Other than getting booed when he talked of repealing Obamacare, which was unnecessarily provocative and he shouldn’t have mentioned it, Romney hit a home run with the NAACP speech. He was at ease, genuine and aggressive in a way I’ve never seen him before. Romney didn’t do anything magical. He simply took the Republican message to black voters and curiously didn’t use the word Republican once. This will go a long way in earning Romney respect from black liberals.

“If you want a president, who will make things better in the black community, you are looking at him,” Romney roared. I think the NAACP crowd thought to themselves, “maybe you’re right, maybe you’re just right.”
