Ted Cruz - Secretary Napolitano on Border Security Triggers in Judiciary Committee

Ted Cruz has worked to strengthen border security and help ensure that America remains a nation of laws. Among other efforts, he has worked on efforts to increase penalties for felons who enter the country illegally.

Authored a U.S. Supreme Court amicus brief on behalf of 10 states in Lopez v. Gonzales, urging the strictest enforcement of laws punishing those with prior felony convictions who entered the country illegally.

Glenn Beck - Big Sis Lied: New Info On Saudi National In Boston Attacks - Confirms Cover Up.

From the April 24, 2013 edition of "The Glenn Beck Radio Program"- The real story about the Saudi National who was originally taken into custody immediately following the Bostom Marathon bombings. Glenn Beck drops the hammer on Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano...Glenn gives actual evidence from The Blaze that she- and possibly others in the Obama administration- are involved in a cover up related to the Boston Marathon Terrorist Attacks.

Napolitano admitted Tuesday that a Saudi national once identified as a "person of interest" in the Boston Marathon bombings was put on a terror watchlist after the attack.

Last week, she refused to answer any questions about the Saudi, calling South Carolina Rep. Jeff Duncan's inquiry "so full of misstatements and misapprehension that it's just not worthy of an answer."

But today, speaking at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on immigration reform, Napolitano responded to a question posed by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa).

"Before the [Tsarnaev] brothers became the focus of the investigation, authorities questioned a Saudi student who reportedly was on a terror watchlist," Grassley said. "I sent a letter to you this morning asking for answers to questions about the bombers and how they interacted with your agency, I trust you will promptly respond..."

"With regard to the Saudi student, was he on a watchlist, and if so, how did he obtain a student visa?" Grassley asked.

Napolitano firmly responded: "He was not on a watchlist. What happened is — this student was, really when you back it out, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was never a subject. He was never even really a person of interest. Because he was being interviewed, he was at that point put on a watchlist, and then when it was quickly determined he had nothing to do with the bombing, the watch listing status was removed."

Katie Pavlich - ICE Releasing Criminals Into Society

José López was at the Krome detention center awaiting possible deportation to his native Nicaragua when, on Feb. 26, immigration officials suddenly released him.

Overjoyed, López went home that day to rejoin his family in Miami for the first time since he was first arrested several months ago and deportation proceedings were initiated.

López was one of the 2,228 immigrant detainees recently released nationwide by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, who cited the controversial budgetary sequester.

Among those were 225 foreign nationals freed within the jurisdiction of the ICE Miami deportation unit, which includes Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, according to ICE spokesman Nestor Yglesias.

A federal official familiar with the issue said that 76 of the 225 had criminal convictions, including two who were considered aggravated felons.

Originally, ICE officials said only a few hundred detained immigrants had been released nationwide. But on March 14, in testimony before a congressional committee in Washington, ICE chief John Morton revealed that the total was higher than had previously been acknowledged.

Morton said the freed detainees included not only undocumented immigrants with no criminal records, but also people convicted of theft, financial crimes and drunk driving.

“In some cases, multiple DUIs,” Morton told a House appropriations subcommittee.

Morton added that at least 10 of the foreign nationals released were deemed to be “Level 1” offenders, the most risky designation. Four were later rearrested, he said. López, was rearrested March 14,

Katie Pavlich - Update on DHS IG Report in Fast & Furious

“The Inspector General’s report confirms findings by Congress’ investigation of a near total disregard for public safety in Operation Fast and Furious. Contrary to the denials of the Attorney General and his political defenders in Congress, the investigation found that information in wiretap applications approved by senior Justice Department officials in Washington did contain red flags showing reckless tactics and faults Attorney General Eric Holder’s inner circle for their conduct.

Former Deputy Attorney General Gary Grindler, Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer who heads the Criminal Division, Deputy Assistant Attorney General Jason Weinstein, Arizona U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke, and Holder’s own Deputy Chief of Staff Monty Wilkinson are all singled out for criticism in the report. It’s time for President Obama to step in and provide accountability for officials at both the Department of Justice and ATF who failed to do their jobs. Attorney General Holder has clearly known about these unacceptable failures yet has failed to take appropriate action for over a year and a half.”

Jeannie DeAngelis - 'Dangerous Hairdryers’ and Self-protective Cutting Shears

Originally posted at American Thinker
Last year, with the authorization of Attorney General Eric Holder and the U.S. Department of Justice, after thousands of “Fast and Furious” assault rifles wreaked mayhem on both the U.S. border and inside Mexico, the Obama administration commissioned Janet ‘Big Sis’ Napolitano to do whatever was necessary to help save American lives.

Soon thereafter, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, overseen by Secretary Napolitano and the Department of Homeland Security, seized 13,000 “unsafe hair dryers” from blowing their way across the border.

Apparently, Mexican drug cartels entering the U.S. to buy illegal guns and Al Qaeda operatives infiltrating American soil are not the problem. But hairdryers that “fail to have adequate immersion protection” — now that is a huge problem.

Fully aware that nervous citizens were grappling with hairdryer immersion concerns, the DHS reassured the public that ”The potentially dangerous hair dryers were identified through a nationwide targeting operation by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Import Safety Commercial Targeting and Analysis Center (CTAC).”

Well-coifed Americans breathed a collective sigh of relief. Thankfully, the government made sure that if one should decide to dry their hair in the bathtub, thanks to the efforts of attentive border agents there’s a good chance they won’t be electrocuted.

Now, a year later, after pulling the plug on a successful “dangerous hairdryer” crusade, Ms. Napolitano and company have embarked on a new venture: offering advice on how to stay alive if one is fortunate enough to have a job and a demented gunslinger decides to vent his anger in the workplace.

In an effort to save lives, the Department of Homeland Security, an agency that still hasn’t confiscated all the guns that were purposely walked across the border into Mexico, posted a government-produced video entitled “Options for Consideration Active Shooter Training Video.”

Excuse me, but that title just cries out for a DHS-style acronym, and is almost as ridiculous as the infamous DHS “man caused disaster” definition that the organization came up with for terrorism.

When overseeing the content of the video, Big Sis must have felt it was necessary for the narrator to explain to grown adults that an “active shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people inside an occupied structure or outside in a populated area.” What Janet forgot to mention was that “active shooters” attempt to kill people with guns.

Naturally, because the government objects to honest Americans citizens being armed and able to defend themselves, the DHS was forced to get creative when suggesting lifesaving options that should have also included: When making a business call, instead of looking for the donuts and coffee or scoping out the location of the bathroom, be on the lookout for an escape route and never sit with your back to the door.

On behalf of Barack Obama’s December 2012 “Critical Infrastructure Protection and Resilience” initiative, the deliberate tone of the narrator also suggests intuitive things like scurrying under a desk or conference room table; shutting off lights; closing blinds; trying not to sneeze or cough; and cell phone deactivation. The video also suggests locking and/or barricading oneself in an office; running for the stairwell; stepping over dead coworkers; and putting your hands in the air with fingers spread apart while passing the SWAT team on the way out of the building under siege.

According to the video, for lack of a legal firearm or a place to hide, victims have a better chance of survival if they attempt to “overpower the shooter with whatever means are available.”

DHS forgot to mention that Office Retaliation Options, or OROs, could also include even more creative defensive measures such as: Jamming chewing gum into the barrel of the gun; stapling the shooter’s feet to the floor; bludgeoning the aggressor with a fire extinguisher; asphyxiating the assailant with a baseball-size wad of Post-Its; using a letter opener as a stabbing implement; or better yet, slicing an assailant to ribbons with the pair of scissors depicted in the video being pulled from a disorganized desk drawer by a quick-thinking office worker under fire.

A word of caution for jujutsu experts defending themselves for the first time with office-supply-quality cutting shears: Just make sure the blades are not in the gunman’s jugular with your hand still on the handles. Why? Because the video advises that when the cops arrive those wielding sharp objects must “Put down any items [and] immediately raise [their] hands,” lest they survive the gunman but lose their lives to an overenthusiastic first responder.

In the end, between Ms. Napolitano’s successful “dangerous hairdryer” endeavor last year and the lifesaving instructions for using scissors against an angry, gun-wielding former coworker on a rampage this year, the Department of Homeland Security’s information campaign is destined to save lives.

In the meantime, in the near future a taxpayer-funded “Options for Consideration Active Shooter Training Video Part. II” may be warranted to address a situation where a gunman attacks, oh, let’s say a beauty parlor. In that case, someone will need to provide step-by-step self-defense “options” for a hair stylist with only a “dangerous hairdryer” handy and no assault scissors within reach.

Jeannie DeAngelis - DHS Job Fair for Illegals

Originally posted at American Thinker
America has a 9% unemployment rate, but the Department of Homeland Security, instead of hiring US citizens to assist in rounding up undocumented aliens and shipping them home, has chosen to authorize employing people who shouldn't be here in the first place.

The Department of Homeland Security, headed up Janet Napolitano and in cooperation with the White House, has chosen to reward illegals with paychecks that could otherwise be going to Americans who are unemployed. According to Napolitano, DHS apparently sanctions and authorizes hiring foreigners who flout the law, citing "prosecutorial discretion" as the excuse.

What next? Why not make exceptions for well-behaved child molesters to prove they're rehabilitated by allowing them to work in day care centers? Or how about, as a good faith expression of redemptive trust on the part of the federal government, giving car thieves part-time jobs at Cadillac dealerships?

At a recent Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Janet Napolitano cited "agency leeway" as an excuse to allow illegals to work - another policy that underscores the absurdity that has defined this administration's stand on immigration. Regardless of how family-minded, polite, or hard-working, illegal aliens remain lawbreaking interlopers who have zero regard for our country or its rule of law.

Nonetheless, how has the Obama administration chosen to address the pervasive problem of illegal immigration? By bestowing on iniquitous individuals the gift of free education, promised amnesty, taxpayer-funded entitlement programs, and jobs that the perpetually underemployed would be more than happy to fill.

At the hearing, ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee Senator Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) probed Janet Napolitano with questions, hoping to get at the root of the lunacy. Grassley asked the DHS secretary the following question: "According to the information from your department, some individuals who are given relief will obtain work authorizations. So people with no right to be in the country will be allowed to work here. Is that correct?"

Napolitano responded to Grassley's question by citing a policy "allowing illegals to work," which she claims has been in place since 1986. Although the Secretary failed to name the legislation, it's possible she was referring to the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, a bill otherwise known as Simpson-Mazzoli Act.

The original intent of Simpson-Mazzoli was to "curtail the employment of illegal aliens and make employers responsible for verifying applicants' eligibility to work in the US. Seasonal agricultural workers (who were in the country illegally) were offered amnesty, as were undocumented immigrants who had entered before Jan. 1, 1982 and maintained residence in America."

The bill also increased border patrols and prompted "efficient adjudication of petitions and applications." A pathway to citizenship was instituted by adjusting an illegal alien's status to that of being "an alien lawfully admitted for temporary residence. One condition was an absence of a felony conviction and no more than two misdemeanors. After one year, the immigrant could apply for another adjustment of status to become 'lawfully admitted for permanent residence.'"

The difference between 1986 and 2011 is that since then, the number of illegals residing in the United States has grown from 2 million to an unmanageable albeit conservative estimate of 12 million.

Moreover, 9-11 proved that there are those who have entered the nation illegally who come here for reasons other than picking apples as a 'seasonal agricultural worker.' Couple that with the abysmal unemployment picture for American citizens who remain desperate for work, and the federal government offering jobs to illegals, regardless of the excuse, borders on irrational.

So once again the nation is confronted with an administration and Department of Homeland Security that continue to be suspicious of ex-military personnel, pro-life activists, evangelical Christians, and Tea Party members, but who feel comfortable rewarding criminal interlopers who infiltrate the nation's borders, some with malicious ill intent, with jobs that remain scarce for the law-abiding.

Maybe it's just that Janet Napolitano is too busy hunting down right-wing extremists to find time to focus on enemies who come to America disguised as destitute migrant workers looking for a better life, or to acknowledge that Al-Qaeda and Al Shabaab operatives routinely slink across the border into the United States.

In the meantime, the Department of Homeland Security, together with Obama, rather than defend the native soil they swore to protect, are complicit in providing pathways for terrorists to be established in occupations whose ultimate payday includes doing the type of work by which unemployed Americans may be financially harmed today and fatally wounded tomorrow.

Jeannie DeAngelis - All the Wrong Things

Originally posted at American Thinker
Lately, the Homeland Security Department is a busy place. Coinciding with the release of a series of "If You See Something, Say Something" public service announcements starring actors that look nothing like those responsible for the majority of terrorist activity here in the US, both Obama and Janet Napolitano are on red alert and deeply concerned about "Lone Wolf" terrorism.

"Big Sis" Janet Napolitano is back to warning Americans to be on the lookout for "right wing extremists" such as military war veterans, pro-life activists, and anyone who prefers smaller government. In conjunction with the "White People with Bombs" video, the Department of Homeland Security released a bulletin that listed several examples of potential terrorists, including last month's thwarted plot by a US soldier to launch an assault in Fort Hood, Texas and the July attack by -- you guessed it -- a "right-wing extremist in Norway" who slaughtered dozens of innocent children.

In the 2009 unclassified government report entitled "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment," the DHS warned that "prolonged economic downturn -- including real estate foreclosures, unemployment, and an inability to obtain credit -- could create a fertile recruiting environment for rightwing extremists." However, to date, exactly zero unemployed pro-life Iraqi war veterans living in foreclosed homes have taken to the streets armed with AK-47s.

Oddly enough, as concerned as the administration is about stopping lone individuals dressed in business suits removing luggage from the trunks of city cabs, neither Obama nor Napolitano have addressed the growing issue of roving gangs of teenagers on city streets terrorizing innocent people.

Therefore, it's clear that President Obama is relatively unconcerned with violent flash mobs, terrorists sneaking across the open border, homegrown Muslim extremism in the US, Iraqi and Mexican drug rings in California, or guns in the hands of Mexican drug cartels provided by misguided sting operations. Instead, after his vacation, Barack Obama plans to focus like a laser on the economy, jobs, and attractive Caucasian women carrying designer handbags harboring nefarious plans to place bombs in train stations.

In a recent CNN interview, Obama shared:
The risk that we're especially concerned over right now is the lone wolf terrorist, somebody with a single weapon being able to carry out wide-scale massacres of the sort that we saw in Norway recently. You know, when you have one person who is deranged or driven by a hateful ideology, they can do a lot of damage, and it's a lot harder to trace those lone wolf operators.
With all due respect, tracing "a single weapon" isn't all that hard if you have a plan. For example, the President could propose a modified version of the "Fast and Furious" method of tracking lone wolves, wherein potential terrorists are tracked after being allowed to load bombs into vans and possibly killing a few Americans, and are then apprehended and brought to justice.

And while kids at a Norwegian youth camp being slaughtered by a lone wolf is a tragedy of epic proportions, one would never guess from the "See Something Say Something" PSA that right here in America, 3,098 people have died at the hands of radical Muslim extremists.

So, with lone wolves and the 2012 election in mind, at the behest of Hispanic activists and Dream Act Democrats, on the cusp of the 10th anniversary of 9-11 Obama decided it was the perfect time to circumvent Congress and blow off the Constitution. After having "failed in the legislative process," the President informally granted amnesty to millions of illegals, some of whom may be in the United States without the best of intentions.

Against the wishes of the majority of Americans who go to school, serve in the military, and care for the nation by working hard and paying taxes, the President decided that illegals and their children should be granted amnesty on a "case-by-case basis" for attending school, having family in the military, and caring for older parents who unlawfully smuggled them over the border.

As far as serving in the military goes, Obama should make up his mind. If the DHS is correct that military service is criteria for amnesty and that ex-military men and women are potential "right-wing" extremists, then granting amnesty based on military service could be cultivating the type of "right-wing terrorism" he's trying to avoid. Lord knows being around all those southern redneck Rummy Dummy types is what likely pushed Ft. Hood-stationed/"Allahu Akbar"-screaming Nidal Hasan and pressure cooker/gunpowder bomb-building Muslim Pfc. Naser Abdo into "right wing"-style terrorism.

Like President Obama, "Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Nevada Democrat who earlier this year wrote asking Homeland Security to exempt illegal immigrant students from deportation, said the move will free up immigration courts to handle cases involving serious criminals."

Reid would like Americans to concentrate on more pressing issues, and to exempt students like the studious but apparently late-blooming high school student, 19-year-old Hosam Maher Husein Smadi. In the country illegally after his student visa expired, Mr. Smadi was arrested after placing a "vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (V BIED) in an SUV he had parked in the basement of [a] 60-story Dallas office tower." Then there's scholarly University of Memphis student Mahmoud Maawad, an Egyptian arrested in 2005 after being found with a pilot's uniform and a map of Memphis International Airport.

And there is the issue of illegal immigrants just looking to settle in the US in hopes of contributing something of value to American society, such as hard-line Muslim cleric Said Jaziri. Said was "banned from entering France and Canada after calling for the death of the Danish cartoonist, who drew images of the prophet Mohammed, Kurt Westergaard." Discovered entering the US during a routine border check, cleric Jaziri was stuffed into a Mexican BMW wanting only to be taken to a "safe place anywhere in the US."

Thus, thanks to Barack Obama, well-behaved Muslim extremists who manage to sneak over the border in car trunks are in a great position to eventually be granted amnesty. Rather than recognizing and addressing real-world threats, the President suggests scanning crowds for blond-haired terrorists, hunting down phantom lone wolves, and issuing public service announcements warning the country about right-wing extremists - all the while being personally responsible for endangering the safety and well-being of every American by being guilty himself of seeing, saying, and doing the wrong things, all the time.
