Jeannie DeAngelis - Shielding Barack Obama From IRS Disgrace

Originally posted at American Thinker
On behalf of the progressive "FORWARD" movement, with a near-religious zeal that far exceeds the bellicose fervor liberals accuse conservatives of displaying, Obama supporters in the IRS went about the business of discriminating against social welfare groups as well as targeting those with opposing religious and political views.

It was during the 2012 presidential debates, when referring to the tragic events that took place in Benghazi, that Barack Obama said the following: "Ultimately, as commander-in-chief, I'm responsible, and I don't shy away from that responsibility."

Yet, for some reason, when it comes to the IRS scandal, the president seems hesitant to pretend to shoulder the blame for what took place at the largest U.S. government agency under his jurisdiction. Then again, in all fairness, Obama being expected to take the hit for both Benghazi and the IRS is certainly more bogus culpability than one irresponsible president should be asked to handle.

Which raises the question: is it possible that in an effort to make Obama appear unimpeachable, two prominent big-government liberals are purposely contradicting the partisan vindictiveness in which the agency enthusiastically indulged on the president's behalf?

Consider this: on May 11th, just as the IRS story was gaining momentum, at an Eastern Kentucky University commencement ceremony while speaking to 600 education, business, and technology graduates, the first lady unexpectedly encouraged her audience to converse with the very people the Internal Revenue has tried for four years to shut up.

In 2009, with the president's tacit approval, the DHS publicly portrayed the right wing as a bunch of hateful, anti-government racists. So why would the first lady suddenly suggest that college graduates interconnect with the president's political nemeses?

Checking herself, Mrs. Obama did add, "And if you're a Republican, have a chat with a Democrat. Maybe you'll find some common ground, maybe you won't." Trust me, they won't!

Now, either Michelle was attempting to find innovative ways to gather names to submit to the IRS for future audits, or she was hoping to quell a controversy whose impetus was clearly the work of dedicated sycophants helping to advance her husband's hyperpartisan agenda.

Mrs. Obama may have also thought that promoting bipartisan interaction would corroborate the phony contention that Obama was about to make that he was absolutely shocked -- shocked! -- that the IRS would single out the very same people he enthusiastically singles out on a regular basis.

As if that's not out of character enough, despite the IRS targeting Catholic professors, a Jewish group, and a world-renowned evangelist, not to mention asking for outlandish things such as the content of pro-life prayers, Michelle segued from repartee to religion. The first lady, 'for the first time in her adult life,' suggested that when not in the throes of tearing through free contraceptives, college grads should drop in on religious congregations.

Mrs. Obama's spiritual advice seemed to imply that even if a right-wing bitter clinger were delivering the sermon, Obama-approved religiosity could be realized by reaching out "with an open mind and an open heart" to other faiths.

Notwithstanding the Internal Revenue Service forcibly limiting conservative Americans' ability to reach out to anyone, Mrs. Obama then pointed out "When we only talk to people who think like we do, we just get stuck in our ways." Lest we forget, the woman offering advice on how to be more flexible is the same person so determined to control what Americans eat that she's even burrowed her way into zoos and museums in a relentless effort to redesign kiddie menus to comply with her specifications.

Zoo or no zoo, Michelle is not alone. In what may well be yet another stunning effort to shield the president from criticism, happily stuck-in-his-ways former Obama campaign advisor David Axelrod similarly inserted his opinion into the IRS mêlée. Axelrod made the surprising admission that the very government his hero is in the process of growing is too vast to handle for the guy doing the growing.

Rather than expound upon the merits of a bloated bureaucracy, notorious big-government proponent David Axelrod argued on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" that the immense régime Obama has spent years cultivating, due to its immensity, could not be managed by anyone, let alone Barack Obama.

To understand the absurdity of such a statement coming from Mr. Axelrod, of all people, one should think of it this way: it's David Axelrod who helped political neophyte Obama steal the keys to the big-government 18-wheeler. Then, unable to steer the oversized vehicle, the president proceeded to mow down half the country. Now Axelrod, Barack Obama's principal enabler, has the gall to claim the president was way too young to drive?
One thing's for sure, despite his bravura, since winning reelection the president has not only proven that he can't drive, but also that he's figured out nothing, fixed nothing, and done nothing constructive, let alone been held accountable for the chaos he's created.

That's why there has to be an ulterior motive for the Axelrod/Obama combined effort. Were it not to put distance between the president and the Internal Revenue Service, Mrs. Obama would never suggest that college graduates reject the kind of partisanship the ideological tax collection agency embraced. Moreover, David Axelrod would be the last person on the planet to stress the impossibility of supervising the very agency to which Barack Obama just handed the oversight of healthcare for 300 million people.

With that in mind, it's clear that based on the uncharacteristic rhetoric coming from the president's closest allies, Barack Obama has plans to deflect all the blame for the IRS scandal onto the overzealous "civil servants" David Axelrod claims reside "deep within the bowels of the IRS."

Barack Obama Scandals - AP - IRS - Benghazi

Benghazi, IRS and AP scandals reveal Obama's culture of corruption. News that the IRS targeted conservative groups for intense scrutiny is just one in a series of revelations pointing to a culture of expediency and intolerance in the Obama White House that corrupts this administration.

Consider the September slayings of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other U.S. diplomats in Benghazi. If the attack were revealed to be undertaken by terrorists, it posed a grave embarrassment to the president's anti-terrorism strategy—eight weeks before the election.

On September 12, the Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs wrote in an email, "The group that conducted the attacks, Ansar al-Sharia, is affiliated with Islamic terrorists."
If your opponents are evil, anything goes.

Yet, just days later on the Sunday talk shows, UN Ambassador Susan Rice characterized the incident as the result of spontaneous street demonstrations inspired by an anti-Muhammad YouTube video.

Obama Care, having passed through the Senate on a slight-of-hand, has been contentious from the start, and the Congress has not appropriated as much funds as Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius would like to implement the law.

To do the work of HHS, she has sought large contributions from private health care companies to liberal non-profit groups. With health care so heavily regulated, it is hard to characterize these donations as voluntary.

No doubt, favors rendered will be returned, and it smacks of Chicago-style cronyism and corruption.

Now we learn the Justice Department misused subpoena powers to engage in sweeping fishing expeditions through Associated Press and personal phone records—clearly an effort to stifle investigative reporting that the American Civil Liberties Union quickly branded "an unacceptable abuse of power."

In 2010 the IRS began targeting conservative political groups seeking non-profit status for intense scrutiny and harassment. Former IRS Commissioner Douglas Schulman and the White House would have us believe they were unaware of this targeting, and Mr. Schulman was adamant in denials at Congressional Hearings on March 22, 2012.

However, we now learn senior IRS officials were informed of inappropriate conduct two months later, but the Congress was not informed.

The White House can be expected to argue that the targeting was the work of overzealous underlings at the IRS inappropriately exercising discretion—much like the Nixon campaign thugs who broke into Watergate.

This fails to come to terms with the culture of contempt, cultivated by President Obama and other Democratic leaders, toward those who disagree with their progressive ideas.

President Obama's appearance of boredom and disinterest toward Governor Romney during the first presidential debate, and Vice President Biden's disrespectful grinning at Vice-Presidential candidate Paul Ryan, were an indication of something dangerously wrong with the Washington political culture. Many conservatives view Democrats, as not merely wrong but stupid, and many liberals view Republicans as not merely wrong but evil.

If your opponents are evil, anything goes.

Campaigns can get that way, but the conduct of the president requires a higher standard, and he should constrain his lieutenants' more visceral instincts. Instead, President Obama cultivates a culture of anything goes to defeat opponents and advance his liberal agenda.

Underlings act accordingly—any good manger will tell you subordinates exercising discretion take their cues from the conduct of their boss and the messaging of the CEO.

The folks that committed the worst offenses at the IRS were civil servants and three levels below Commissioner; however, the IRS is not a public service that attracts advocates of limited government. You have to be a believer in government—lots of it—to make a career as a tax collector and to target political groups seeking to reduce taxes and spending, and criticizing how the country is being run.

The president's contempt for political opponents and dissent, and expediency in delivering results, has corrupted the most basic functions of government, and emboldened those with personal agendas to threaten our liberties.

Barack Obama Scandals - Jedediah Bila on the A-Team - Talks IRS and Benghazi Scandals

Barack Obama is unusually adept at 'Finger Pointing' and 'Blame Shifting'.

No American President in History, has been able to cause a crisis and convince his Cheerleaders that it was someone else's fault - NOT Barack Obama's.

When the current IRS scandal and AP scandal and Benghazi scandal are examined, one can only reflect on the words of Benjamin Franklin:

"He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else."

Doug Giles - Katie Pavlich, Fast & Furious BS, and Generation Scary

If you’re looking for light summer beach reading then do not, I repeat … do not … buy Katie Pavlich’s disturbing new book, Fast & Furious: Barack Obama's Bloodiest Scandal and the Shameless Cover-Up.

Further, if you want to live undisturbed in Obama la-la-land, you need to put your tennis shoes on and run away from this tome. Indeed, Pollyanna, this book will smash all the windows of your enchanted little cottage and grind your rose-colored Obama glasses into powder.

Fast & Furious parlays into the public arena the scurrilous way the ATF, at the behest of the DOJ, allowed thousands of weapons to get into the hands of Mexican drug cartels. These firearms, in turn—as anyone with even half a brain can imagine—were used to slaughter thousands of Mexicans and to take the lives of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and ICE’s Jaime Zapata.

Now, why would our government agents give thousands of working, untraceable arms to some of the worst SOBs on the planet? Well, we the sheeple were told it’s how the ATF could “know who the bad guys are”—or some crap to that effect.

Hey, wizards at the ATF and the DOJ: If you want to know who the major Mexican dirt bags are who are moving big chunks of weed and mowing down their people and ours with AK-47s, why not use Google versus giving Miguel a machine gun? Por qué?

Most folks, when they take a poke into the Fast & Furious debacle, say, “How can our feds be so stupid?” Which begs the question, was placing thousands of functioning, high-powered weapons in filthy thugs’ hands stupidity on steroids or some twisted scheme with a hidden agenda? Pavlich smelled the latter. The DOJ says it was a whoopsie daisy. Katie thinks they should go sell crazy somewhere else.

Pavlich said “puh-lease” to the 5th amendment-pleading DOJ: “If you’re going to bloviate and obfuscate, Mr. Holder, then I’m going to investigate. And if I find dirt then I’m going to expose you and this massive and murderous crime and cover-up.”

And investigate Katie did, and the gold (or, rather, blood) she found led her to pin the blame on the Attorney General, the Department of Homeland Insecurity and ultimately, the president himself. Katie concluded in her investigations, coupled with the insane lack of media attention and the stalling and bawling by the DOJ, that F&F was not an op that went awry but rather a backdoor grab for our guns that was uncovered when Terry was murdered. FYI to naysayers: Good luck refuting Katie’s conclusions.

Finally, I’d like to praise the 23-year-old Miss Pavlich, the product of a strong and loving dad and a stay-at-home mom—y’know, the kind of mom who “doesn’t work” whom the Left loathes? My tribe and I have been friends with Katie for the last couple of years, and here’s what I dig about her personally and professionally and which other young people would do well to emulate …
  1. Katie, unlike the occupunks, believes that America and the principles upon which our nation was founded do not suck. She believes that the U.S.A. deserves our respect and is definitely worth fighting for.
  2. Katie picks big fights. BHO, the DOJ and Mexican drug cartels are no small targets, mind you. Go big or go home, boys.
  3. Katie is a hard worker and is not a prissy wannabe conservative starlet begging to be fawned over.
  4. Katie is a happy warrior. Fighting for justice in this crap-laden culture can be a joy-sucking, hopeless business. Katie’s confident, however, that in time truth will prevail; it simply needs someone to find it, dust it off and declare it without fear.
Katie and other young twentysomethings like her whom I know—including both of my daughters and my son-in-law—represent what I have come to call “Generation Scary.” They are some of the scariest and most fearless young patriots walking this great land, and everybody and their dog who loves this country should get behind them and praise them and promote these young charges wherever the sun doth shine.

Once again, for those who can handle truth in an uncut form, this balls-out book picks no small fight and is definitely worth your time and money.

Watergate … meet #Murdergate.

PS: The DOJ just appointed Media Matters to run interference for them regarding Fast & Furious. You cannot make this stuff up.

Lurita Doan - Obama's Regulatory Puffery

When in doubt, President Obama is quick to push for more government regulations as a universal cure to all problems. No matter what the problem, be it health care, financial reforms, small business growth, taxation, Team Obama tells Americans that new regulations that will expand governmental control and operations, are vital.

What Obama fails to realize is that more regulations piled atop the already huge regulatory thicket, are not the solution to the problems this nation faces. Moreover, new regulations and the corresponding expansion of government, are likely to create far more problems and continue to hobble economic growth. Daily, Barack Obama continues to push the need for new regulations even as his Administration finds it too tedious to enforce the regulations that now exist.

Every day, Americans can see examples of the Obama Administration's willingness to bypass existing rules and regulations. In the recent clown-lavish travel scandal at the General Services Administration (GSA), the government's procurement agency, the government did not follow its own rules regarding federal travel and conferences. The GSA, which, ironically, sets the travel rules for the rest of the federal government, ignored the regulations which sets the hotel room rate in Las Vegas for $99, and the food and incidentals rate per diem rate for $70, and the gift award rate of $99.

The squalid events at GSA remind us that cutting wasteful government spending does not require new and complicated regulations or further expansion of government as Team Obama suggests. Instead, had Obama’s political appointees been willing, or able, to enforce the sensible regulations that now exist, no taxpayer money would have been lost. Yet strangely, Barack Obama’s senior political appointees decided, instead, to approve the "exceptions" or "waivers" to the federal government's travel policies, costing taxpayers millions.

Since regulation §301-11.25 in the Federal Travel Regulations (FTR) requires federal employees to provide receipts for most expenditures, and regulation §301-11.11 requires government workers to use the agency's travel service to make lodging reservations, Americans have an even more unsavory example of Obama’s senior political appointees violating the very rules that they are directly responsible for enforcing. Not exactly leadership by example.

What is especially troubling is the unusual lengths and contortions that Mr Obama’s political appointees used to escape existing regulations and blow through legal spending caps. GSA political appointees decided to grant an exception to the existing rules, which is allowed by FTR (§301-11.301-303), but is reserved for unusual events and only if a leader designated by the Agency signs off on the exception.

Americans might have more sympathy for the GSA political leaders had they been involved in legitimate efforts to helping small businesses, entrepreneurs, women owned companies, and veteran owned start-up to participate in federal bidding for government contracts --but getting IPods as awards for silly, offensive videos praising the wasting of taxpayer dollars is hardly a good use of the exception rule.

Get ready for the inevitable. President Obama is almost certain to propose new and tougher rules for government travel in and effort to demonstrate his seriousness. But new tougher rules on travel and conferences is not the solution. Adherence to existing laws and regulation is all that is required to avoid a similar waste of taxpayer money.

Unfortunately, Team Obama uses the same, misdirected energies when it comes to job creation. Obama has decided now to turn his focus on women, in particular women-owned businesses, Obama insists that new regulations are needed to ensure women owned business have a chance to create jobs and grow the economy. But, once again, no new regulations are actually needed. Obama simply has to direct his Small Business Administrator, Karen Mills, to enforce the rules currently in place. And that holds for all the promises that Obama is making to minority owned businesses, economically deprived area based businesses and veteran businesses as well.

Same goes for taxes too. The president is quick to tout the importance of the "Buffett" rule as a way to collect more tax dollars. But why not enforce the tax rules already in place? And why not start with his own staff? Currently, members of the White House staff owe almost a million dollars in back taxes to the IRS. And, career federal government employees owe over $1 billion in back taxes. Or what about Stimulus recipients who apparently owe over $750 million in back taxes? Why not start there? Why does the Obama Administration never lead by example?

If only Barack Obama would focus on the difficult business of managing the nation’s expenditures, direct his own team to lead by example and make sure his own political appointees do their "fair share", then the country might certainly be better off.

If Barack Obama would stop the puffery, posturing and taradiddles as he travels about the country, crowing about how tough he is on wasteful spending and actually enforce the rules on the books, then the nation might be better off.

Finally, if Barack Obama would get a primer in the workings of the federal government and learn about the rules already in existence and enforce them, before reflexively pushing additional regulations on a nation already fatigued from Barack Obama's regulatory tsunami, there is no doubt ours would be a better, happier, more successful nation.

Lurita Doan - 2012 - The Year the Can Kicks Back

President Obama may best be known as the president who took kicking the can down the road to new, unimagined levels. Obama has demonstrated an unusual ability to delay decision-making, to obfuscate issues, to divert attention from matters of critical importance, and his preference to take half measures when pushed to the brink is now well known. Obama is the Grand Master of Kicking the Can Down the Road.

But in 2012 that seems likely to change—the can is going to kick back.

The problems besetting our nation can only be ignored and obfuscated for so long—and the past three years of the Obama Administration shows that things have gone about as far as they can go.

Here are some likely can kicking back scenarios.
  • Young adults and college-aged students get angry. Bad as matters may be for taxpayers, small businesses and minorities under the Obama Administration, matters are far worse for young adults who have the highest unemployment rates, both short-term and sustained, and little hope, in the short-term of improvement. College student loan rates have reached legendary highs and with parents who are also either unemployed, overextended credit-wise and facing diminished retirement savings, these young adults are facing a tsunami of debt in the upcoming years. Soon, these young adults are going to wake up to the realization that the added $4 trillion dollars in indebtedness, courtesy of the Obama Administration, must be paid back by their generation. Team Obama has falsely promised an ever-expanding set of entitlements that the country can’t afford and the young are left with the bill. The young adult population, which almost overwhelmingly voted for Obama in the last election, are going to wake up to the unhappy realization that Obama’s promise of “hope and change” is really just host and chains—a 21st century version of parasitic slavery—with young Americans enslaved by debt. That can will kick back fiercely and the inter-generational animosity, aware of Obama’s unfair wealth redistribution plan that forces the next generation (and most likely the one after that too) to pay the costs of this generations fecklessness--will be fierce.

  • The economy does not recover. Small business owners and entrepreneurs who have been the brunt of many of Obama’s attacks, through excessive regulation and increased fees and taxes, are not able to ignite the American job machine as they have in the past. Small businesses account for 3 out of every 4 jobs created in the United States, but Obama persists in demonizing these work-horses of the American economy. Obama’s attempts to incite class warfare (and other examples such as Harry Reid’s determination to ignore the contributions of business owners in this country) may cause this “can” to kick back. Already, the reports are in that show that during 2011 there were less IPOs than in the past 10 years. IPOs, while not the sole indicator of success, are an indicator of the state of small businesses and entrepreneurship in this country since IPOs are one of the ways that businesses obtain access to capital, measure growth and financing for long-term enterprise expansions. Even in the federal market, small businesses are being hit hard as surveys show that in 2011, there were far fewer, first-time, entries into the government contracting arena and that far fewer small businesses provided first-time goods and services to the federal government.

  • The can could also kick back over Obama Administration scandals—of which there is a large menu—but where “Fast and Furious” and “green contracting” endeavors such as the bankrupted Solyndra top the list. Americans should expect that these are just the tip of the iceberg of bad Obama Administration policies in action. And, Americans should also expect that the oversight from congressional committees such as the House Oversight committee led of Chairman Darryl Issa will be fair, measured and balanced but will undoubtedly uncover even more egregious excesses from the Obama Administration’s partisan politicking and crony capitalism.
A new EPA leader will be required. Americans for three years have watched an assault on job creation and economic growth in a quixotic effort to achieve dubious environmental goals. Yet somehow, Obama has not been held accountable for the many weird decisions (attempts to kill of coal fired power plants, regulatory maze to prevent the exploration of oil and gas are just two). Our nation needs a coherent energy plan that allows for safe production of oil, gas, coal, and nuclear power as well. The biggest impediment to developing such a plan is the EPA’s extremist environmental views that now intrude on every aspect of American lives and has been given expanded powers to regulate our every breath of air. The path we are now on is just plain crazy.

Lastly, 2012 should see the can—finally--kicking back on Obama’s tendency to define as “racist” any voiced disapproval to his ill-thought, ill-executed policies. The United States is a nation that has elected its first minority president, a nation that provides more supplemental assistance to minorities than any other country in the world, and should not be labeled “racist” by the very man benefitting from the open-mindedness of the American people.

Obama needs to understand that it is not the “color of his skin” that causes problems with the American people, but, rather, the “content of his character”, that leads him to disrespect the first principles that have made this the greatest nation on this earth, that causes the push-back from many Americans.

No other President in American history has been so determined to avoid pressing issues, to delay until tomorrow the unpleasant, and heap the costs and bills to be paid on the next generation--all because Obama is not able to summon the leadership required.

Obama has taken can kicking to “unprecedented” levels during the past three years. You’d think, by now, his foot would be tired.

But, watch out Obama—2012 is the year when the can kicks back.
