"You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children's children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done."

Law Enforcement Stands With NRA and America's Gun Owners

PoliceOne.com, the leading online resource for law enforcement, released findings from a national survey of police professionals that provide insight into the opinions of American law enforcement regarding gun control policies and the root causes of and potential solutions to gun crime in the United States.

The survey, which was conducted in early March 2013, received 15,000 responses from law enforcement professionals. It found that the overall attitude of law enforcement is strongly anti-gun legislation and pro-gun rights, with the belief that an armed citizenry is effective in stopping crime. Response percentages varied only slightly when analyzed by rank and department size. Among the results:
  • 86 percent feel the currently proposed legislation would have no effect or a negative effect on improving officer safety.
  • 92 percent feel that banning semi-automatic firearms, or “assault weapons,” would have no effect or a negative effect on reducing violent crime.
  • Demonstrating the opinion that the best way to combat gun crime is through harsher punishment, 91 percent said the use of a firearm while perpetrating a crime should lead to a stiff, mandatory sentence with no plea bargains.
  • 59 percent believe increasing punishment severity for unlicensed dealers would reduce crime.
  • Respondents were more split on background checks, with 31 percent agreeing that mental health background checks in all gun sales would help reduce mass shootings, while 45 percent disagreed.
  • 71 percent support law enforcement leaders who have publicly refused to enforce more restrictive gun laws within their jurisdictions.
  • 82 percent believe gun buyback or turn-in programs are ineffective in reducing the level of gun violence.
  • 91 percent support the concealed carry of firearms by civilians who have not been convicted of a felony and/or have not been deemed psychologically incapable.
  • 80 percent feel that legally-armed citizens would likely have reduced the number of casualties in recent mass shooting incidents.
  • 38 percent believe the biggest cause of gun violence in the United States is the “decline in parenting and family values”.
  • This was trailed by “overly lax parole and short sentencing standards” at 15 percent and “pop culture influence” (eg. violent movies and video games) at 14 percent.

NRA News Commentary Colion Noir

Colion Noir as many of you know from YouTube, has been swooped up by NRA News to be a weekly contributor. Noir’s first NRA News video was released this morning, and it is a good one.

Titled “Politics and Ignorance,” the video goes after Washington politicians and those in America who use the ‘inner city’ as a pawn in their gun control agenda. Noir points out the hypocrisy of the gun control crowd who uses inner city crime data to disarm the rest of America. Noir says these people never care about the inner city until their privileged communities are hit by a mass shooting.

“Before that violence came knocking on your front door, you didn’t care what happened in the inner cities. So don’t start caring now because you think it advances your agenda.”

Noir’s hiring by the NRA has set off a firestorm of media meltdowns labeling the NRA as racist for trying to appeal to Black youth’s in America via Noir’s image. Not fitting a traditional mold, Noir presentation and perspective perplexes gun control advocates who are intimidated by his dynamic delivery.

CPAC 2013 - NRA - Wayne LaPierre

Wayne LaPierre addresses the crowd at the 2013 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, D.C. He notes that no other organization in the world has spent more money to keep Americans safe. LaPierre also touches on "universal" background checks: "There are only two reasons for government to create that federal registry of gun owners — to tax them and to take them." Other topics addressed by LaPierre include school security, sequestration and women's self-defense.

His Facebook page, which has over 25,000 likes, is riddled with fans and comments and he has 174 videos on YouTube where he breaks down the latest gun arguments in simple-to-understand terms, reviews gun-related equipment, and even shows off at the range.

“Just A normal guys perspective of concealed carry, guns, 2nd Amendment and the Law,” his profile says.

NRA - Cam Edwards - Beretta Firearms

One of the world’s biggest gun makers is threatening to move its Maryland manufacturing plant – along with roughly 400 jobs – as Democratic Gov. Martin O’Malley pushes one of the most ambitious gun-control agendas in the country.

Beretta USA executives have grown weary of the state’s attitude on guns and reportedly have backed up their threat by pointing out the company moved a warehouse to neighboring Virginia in 1990 when Maryland previously tightened gun laws.

NRA News Report - Media Misinformation - Jesse Jackson

"You know that these weapons can shoot down airplanes, they can blow up railroads. This is really a whole national security issue,"...
Rev. Jesse Jackson

If Rev. Jackson is interested in the facts and wants to return this debate back to earth, he should know that semi-automatic firearms were introduced in the late 1800s, and have been popular for self-defense, hunting and target shooting ever since. Forty percent of all uses of firearms for self-defense are performed with semi-automatic handguns.
