"You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children's children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done."

Katie Pavlich - Violence Against Women

For months, liberals have insisted they don’t want to ban guns or take away anyone’s firearms; they just want to have a “conversation” on guns and gun violence. “Pass this gun control law” has been the bulk of the Democrats’ side of the conversation, with the “proper” Republican response being, “Of course.”

Rep. Jim Moran tried to have a one-sided conversation last night but was thwarted by women who insisted on standing up for their Second Amendment rights. Tonight, Democratic strategist Mo Elleithee tried to keep the “conversation” going on “Hannity,” but it turns out he didn’t have much to say. Townhall’s Katie Pavlich, on the other hand, had plenty on her mind.

7 Year Old Girl Firing AR-15 - someone show this Video to Joe Biden

Meet Amanda Collins, a University of Nevada, Reno Campus student, who was brutally raped in the same parking garage where campus police park their cruisers, less than 100 yards from the police station. What is different about her, from the approximately 9 other students raped per day on college campuses throughout the United States, is that it happened near the police station and she had a concealed weapons permit which authorized her to carry a gun everywhere except on campus.

She maintains that it probably would not have happened had she been allowed to carry her concealed weapon.

What is worse, is that she is haunted by the knowledge that she was the first of three rapes and one murder which all could have been avoided.

Amanda Collins - Legislation Made Her a Rape Victim

NRA News profiles Amanda Collins, a rape victim with a very important message about the right to carry concealed weapons on college campuses - NRA News - November 30, 2011
November 2011

Amanda Collins, 25, is a wife and new mom, and a concealed weapon permit holder for years. At her father's law office in Reno, she showed us the 9-mm Glock she carries for her safety.

"It's got a pretty standard magazine," she said, "and night sights so you can see in the dark when you're aiming."

However, Collins couldn't aim her gun at the serial rapist who attacked her at the University of Nevada at Reno, where she was a student. That's because, like most public colleges outside of Utah and Colorado, UNR is a "gun free" zone. The rule required her to leave her gun at home, leaving her defenseless the one time she needed its protection most.

In October of 2007, while walking to her car after a night class, Collins was grabbed from behind in a university parking garage less than 300 yards from a campus police office. The school's "gun-free" designation meant nothing to James Biela, a serial rapist with a gun of his own, who saw Collins as an easy target. "He put a firearm to my temple," she recounted, "clocked off the safety, and told me not to say anything, before he raped me."

Katie Pavlich versus Leslie Marshall Debate: Disarming Women

Condescending Democratic Rep. Joe Salazar of Colorado asserted that young women can't be trusted to assess threatening situations at their colleges or universities: "It's why we have call boxes, it's why we have safe zones, it's why we have the whistles," Salazar said during floor debate. "Because you just don't know who you're gonna be shooting at. And you don't know if you feel like you're gonna be raped, or if you feel like someone's been following you around, or if you feel like you're in trouble when you may actually not be..."

Sen. Marco Rubio Responds to State of the Union with Fox and Friends

Tuesday night (2-12-13), Florida Senator Marco Rubio delivered the GOP rebuttal to President Obama’s State of the Union address.

At one point during his remarks, Rubio grabbed a bottle of water – a move that’s garnered much attention online.

Wednesday on Fox and Friends, Rubio offered a simple explanation – “My mouth got dry.”

“You know when you give a speech, you have a podium and the water is right there, but when you don’t, you start looking around and [thinking] ‘Where am I going to get the water from’ […] I figured I was better off taking that water and taking the hit for it then being unable to pronounce my word at the end of it,” he told Steve Doocy.

Rubio also took on some of the proposals outlined in President Obama’s address – see what he had to say below.
