Michael Brown - Mr. Clinton, You Are Wrong About Overturning DOMA

Dear Mr. Clinton, with all respect to the office of the president which you held for 8 years, I must say that it is not just ironic that you are now asking the Supreme Court to overturn the legislation you signed into law 17 years ago. It is downright tragic.

In your March 7th editorial for the Washington Post, you wrote that although it “was only 17 years ago” when you signed the Defense of Marriage Act, “it was a very different time.”

May I ask you, sir, if 17 years have changed the nature of men and women, of mother and fathers and children, of the essential elements of a family? Have 17 years changed multiplied thousands of years of human history? Have 17 years changed fundamental faith values embraced by several billion people worldwide?

You explain that, 17 years ago, “In no state in the union was same-sex marriage recognized, much less available as a legal right, but some were moving in that direction.”

In point of fact, since 1996, 32 states have voted to define marriage as the union of a man and a woman (the majority of them since 2004), including my current home state of North Carolina, which just last year overwhelmingly wrote natural, organic marriage into the constitution by a vote of 61% to 39%, despite a strong majority of Democrats statewide.

It is true that, for the first time, several states voted in 2012 to redefine marriage, but those were heavily blue states where traditional marriage proponents were outspent by as much as five-to-one, and even then, the voting was close.

Can you really claim some kind of mandate when 9 times out of 10 (32 states out of 36), when the people have been given a right to vote, they have voted against genderless marriage? The mandate is actually against your position, sir, not for it.

In your editorial, you offer a transparently weak justification of your signing of DOMA, which leads me to ask: Mr. Clinton, did you have no conscience when you signed that bill into law? Did you have no gay or lesbian friends? Had you not met any upstanding gay or lesbian couples, working hard to raise a family? I’m sure that was not the case, sir, and with all candor, your justification for signing DOMA in 1996 while asking the Supreme Court to overturn it in 2013 smacks of political correctness more than dispassionate conviction.

You wrote that when DOMA comes before the Court on March 27, “the justices must decide whether it is consistent with the principles of a nation that honors freedom, equality and justice above all, and is therefore constitutional. As the president who signed the act into law, I have come to believe that DOMA is contrary to those principles and, in fact, incompatible with our Constitution.”

Do you honestly believe, Mr. Clinton, that any of the framers of the Constitution countenanced a day in our great nation when men would be marrying men and women marrying women, and in the name of the Constitution, at that? And since when did our Constitution guarantee the government’s endorsement of all romantic attractions and sexual behaviors? And are you genuinely unaware that redefining marriage is just the tip of the iceberg of a massive societal transformation in the name of LGBT rights, including the undoing of gender distinctions?

And with your brilliant legal mind, sir, are you oblivious to the fact that polygamists and polyamorists, too numerous to be ignored, are also appealing to “freedom, equality and justice” in the pursuit of their “rights”? What will you say to them, especially given the fact that their lifestyles are now being mainstreamed by the very same media that has so shaped American thinking on homosexual issues?

You wrote, “Because Section 3 of the act defines marriage as being between a man and a woman, same-sex couples who are legally married in nine states and the District of Columbia are denied the benefits of more than a thousand federal statutes and programs available to other married couples.”

But what does this have to with the radical redefinition of marriage? What does this have to do with sanctioning an institution that will guarantee that a child has either no mother or no father? What does this have to do with rendering marriage genderless, to the point that marriage certificates could be reduced to Partner A and Partner B, along with birth certificates being reduced to Parent A and Parent B? (In this context, I should mention the Florida judge who “approved the adoption of a 22-month-old baby girl that will list three people as parents on her birth certificate – a married lesbian couple and a gay man.”)

Mr. Clinton, if marriage is simply the union of two people and not the union of a man and a woman, can you give me one solid intellectual reason or one compelling social argument why marriage cannot involve more than two consenting adults? What is so special about the number “two” if it does not consist of a male and female, with their unique biological and social compatibility and, in normal circumstances, their ability to produce children whom they will raise for the next generation?

You claim to know now that DOMA not only provided “an excuse for discrimination,” but that “the law is itself discriminatory.” Surely you must realize that polygamists, polyamorists, and others will find your current position “discriminatory.” More importantly, the sanctioning of same-sex “marriage” will mean that multiplied tens of millions of God-fearing Americans will be codified as bigots, surely the height of ugly discrimination.

Mr. Clinton, you were right before. You are wrong now. I pray that God will give you another change of heart.

Crystal Wright - Democrats Spinning a Fairy Tale in Charlotte

The corrosive theme pervading the Democrat convention is government is the solution to all our ills and “we the people” can achieve a government subsidized American Dream. From birth control and automobiles to education, housing, work and food on the table, the answer in Charlotte pushed by Michelle Obama, Sandra Fluke, Elizabeth Warren, and Bill Clinton is “Yes, we can with government.”

The one thing missing from liberals’ mantra is how America is going to pay for all this government largess. In nearly four years, Obama spent $6 trillion more than George Bush spent in eight years in office. This has driven the country’s debt to $16 trillion US history, weakening our standing at home and abroad, yet Obama wants to continue to spend. “America can’t be great if we go broke,” wrote the Simpson Bowles debt reduction commission.

Michelle Obama kicked off Democrat National Convention pushing her husband’s campaign rhetoric of divisive class warfare and spending with a spoonful of sugar. She attacked success and said those who earn success should “give other folks the same chance.” This was code for “the haves” should pay higher taxes so government can pay for everybody else’s student loans, healthcare, and anything else under the sun Obama decides.

Michelle said her husband’s vision for America “isn’t how much money you make, it’s the difference you make in people’s lives.” And that difference according Obama’s worldview is to create “success” for all Americans by growing government and level the economic playing field by robbing hard earned wealth from one group and redistributing it to others. That’s called the government decides and you receive: socialism.

Wednesday night we heard from a shrill band of Democrat women, demanding this that and the other from government. Infamous law student Sandra Fluke spoke. She’s the same Fluke who doesn’t think women should pay for their own birth control even though she can pay $100,000 to attend Georgetown Law School. Fluke gave a redux of her Hill testimony supporting the Obamacare mandate that all insurance plans including Catholic organizations must pay for birth control of its employees, even if it violates their religious beliefs.

Elizabeth Warren gave a rousing speech, which stirred up the liberal base, hungry for government intervention. As mastermind of the new costly Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and Massachusetts Democrat Senate candidate, Warren said individuals aren’t responsible for anything in life because the “system is rigged against them.” She agreed with Obama that government needs to be the caretaker of your job, your health, your house, etc. Warren’s diatribe was worthy of Lenin, Marx and Stalin.

But the icing on the cake was when President Bill Clinton took to the Charlotte stage and gave an unconvincing but electric performance why Obama deserves another four years to spend and grow government. Ironically Clinton was the champion of “The era of big government is over,” as he boasted in his 1996 State of the Union address. Yet, he defended Obama’s $6 Trillion of spending as improving the country thought Clinton balanced budgets. Obama’s binge spending has accomplished nothing but misery for Americans, unemployment of over 8% for the past three years, the first US credit downgrade in history, less than 2% economic growth.

Everyone knows by now, in 2008 Clinton despised Obama for running a race infused campaign against his wife Hillary Clinton and said Obama’s campaign was “the biggest fairy tale” he had ever seen. Yet, Clinton spent nearly an hour Wednesday night telling the crowd they should re-elect Obama because he “inherited a mess” but he’s “committed to cooperation.” Because Obama gave himself a grade of “incomplete,” Clinton reached back to 1961 to compare how many jobs Republican and Democrat presidents have collectively created to make Obama’s abysmal jobs record look good.

Like Obama, Clinton made up excuses why Obama is doing poorly and needs another term. Clinton said it’s because “Republicans hate President Obama” and Obama “tried to work with Congressional Republicans on health Care, debt reduction, and jobs.” Bill doesn’t mention Clinton had a Democrat majority in Congress his first two years and instead of fixing the problem made it worse with failed a $800 billion stimulus, $2.3 trillion Obamacare and $22 billion Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform Act. Conversely, Clinton worked with a Republican Congress and got things done because he compromised with the opposition. That’s what presidential leadership is about not blame.

Clinton’s speech was more pregnant with excuses why Obama wasn’t doing well than his successes. “President Obama started with a much weaker economy than I did. No President – not me or any of my predecessors could have repaired all the damage in just four years. But conditions are improving and if you'll renew the President's contract you will feel it,” said Clinton.

President’s run for office knowing it’s the hardest job in the world. In 2008, Obama proclaimed if he didn’t fix things in four years, he didn’t deserve another term. The American people can’t run on hope anymore; we’re empty like Obama is of a plan. It’s pretty indicative how weak a candidate Obama is when he has to ask a former president, who despises him to come to his rescue. According to the book the Amateur, Bill not only told Hillary Clinton Obama was “in over his head” but also encouraged his wife to challenge him in 2012 for the Democrat nomination.

For nearly four years, what Obama has “revealed” about himself is he’s not capable of leading, he hasn’t improved things and he should be fired! What Democrats like Bill Clinton are spinning down in Charlotte is one big Obama fairy tale.

Jeannie DeAngelis - With Barack’s Polls Lagging, Michelle Obama Smiles (And Dresses Down) for The Cameras

Originally posted at Big Government
One would think that clever people would know how to finesse a shady sleight of hand whenever a political blunder demands a dishonest image be projected for the American public. Yet, time and again Democrats considered exceptional by other Democrats appear to be more gifted in looking foolish than exhibiting the ingenious brainpower they believe sets them apart from the rest of the world.

Take for instance way back in the glorious Clinton years, when Hill and Bill were supposedly having a private moment slow-dancing on the beach in St. Thomas. Coincidentally, the loving interlude took place while Bill was simultaneously preparing for his deposition in the Paula Jones scandal.

In her memoir Living History, the always authentically disingenuous Hillary described the private, honeymoon-like moment and the romantic couple’s surprise when they found out a voyeuristic paparazzo had intruded on their lovers’ passion from afar.

After finding out about being scoped out by a high-powered telephoto lens, Mrs. Clinton revealed that “Bill wasn’t upset. He liked the photo.”

Bill Clinton has proven to be a big believer in phony beach photo ops. Who can forget D-Day in 1994 and Bill waxing sentimental on the sandy shore of Normandy? It was there that lower-lip-biting solitary Slick Willy created a cross out of a pile of pebbles created out of thin air. Similar to how menopausal Hillary and a paunchy Bill in wrinkled swim trunks also showed up out of nowhere in photos slow-dancing next to an upside-down kayak.

The Clinton swimsuit scam is a perfect example of supposedly smart people behaving in a manner so out of character that it’s obvious their action is a calculated attempt to influence public opinion.

Who can forget Bill Clinton, the cigar-smoking king of dalliances, in a marital embrace with the only female he had no romantic interest in – political careerist Hillary Clinton, supposedly “the smartest woman in the world,” who allowed herself to be photographed in a bathing suit from behind – and they expected the American public to believe this was genuine?

How stupid do these two think we are? Oh, that’s right – liberals are deluded into believing everyone besides themselves are nothing more than gullible dumbbells with deficient IQ’s.

In reality, the Clinton marriage is comprised of two ambitious people living separate lives yet remaining married purely for political expediency. Any public exhibit of conjugal oneness on the part of the Clintons is cunning manipulation by two con artists who mistakenly believe they’re smarter than everyone else; in their arrogance, each one clearly lacks the awareness to understand that those they sought to swindle were already onto their ruse.

Phonies like the devious Arkansan duo from Chappaqua aside, it didn’t seem possible that carpet-bagging Yankee fans with Jewish family roots and an office in Harlem could be upstaged in the chicanery department. But the Clintons have finally been shown up by the “Harvard Law grad, clearly brilliant” Michelle Obama and Barack Obama, the guy with the “intellectual stammer [that] signals [his] brain … is moving so fast that [his] mouth can’t keep up.”

Years after Bill Clinton set out across America redeeming his reputation as a humanitarian interested in the well-being of both sexes, a historic whiz kid named Barack Obama has been about the business of one-upping both the Secretary and the Slickster by using newfangled but similarly fake scenarios in an attempt to influence public opinion.

For instance, whenever his Christianity is question, Barack Obama, the man who prefers to worship at the First Church of Hardwood, shelves the basketball and takes a saunter over to St. John’s Church, family in tow, dressed in Sunday go-to-meeting finery under the watchful eye of photographers documenting the devout attitude of America’s non-Muslim president.

On more than one occasion, to redeem his sullied reputation or champion an unpopular cause, Obama has done things that rival even the most romantic beach dancing. After the BP oil spill and after scarfing down a lemon-lime snow cone, a distraught Barack sunk to his knees to collect tar balls on the Gulf of Mexico. He made a pre-planned, staged “surprise” visit to see the all the troops in Iraq (all except the ones who didn’t vote for him) and even provided hospital lab coats to an army of supporters who suddenly showed up in the Rose Garden to applaud the passing of the healthcare reform bill.

Even still, while Barry and Bill are both proficient at treating Americans like dolts, when it comes to phony change-the-subject photo ops, Michelle ‘Dupery’ Obama puts Hillary ‘Duplicity’ Clinton to shame in the phony-reality department.

When Barack was running for President of the United States, Michelle was shrewd enough to show up on talk shows in J. Crew sweaters and affordable dresses. The goal at the time was to send a message to America, in much the same way Hill and Bill pretend to actually like each other, that the Obamas are middle-class, shabby-chic shopping folk.

Three seconds after Barry moved into the Oval Office, Michelle abandoned the Gap for a front row seat on a runway crammed with high-end fashion designers, Lanvin ‘soup kitchen’ footwear, $500 Tory Burch gardening boots, and $500K-per-year in staff and personal assistants.

Michelle Obama is either a woman who thinks Americans are slow on the uptake, or couldn’t care less what any of us think.

Recently recruited to assist the re-election efforts of a president whose poll numbers are falling faster than his wife changes outfits, it seemed time to call out the cameras, change from couture into khakis, and send Mrs. Obama on a shopping trip that screams “I push around red shopping carts and pre-scan items to keep on a budget too.”

Resurrecting the subject of shopping in an attempt to make the President’s wife appear to identify with those who’ve compared the lines at Target with those at Wal-Mart, über brilliant liberal advisors dispatched the same woman who recently wore $40K in diamond-encrusted wristlets to a fundraising event, to bargain-shop for Lysol and dog food.

Although accompanied by photographers and a cavalcade of Secret Service, Democrats can only hope that while at Target the incognito Mrs. Obama thought ahead and purchased a one-piece bathing suit for herself and boxer-style swim trunks for Barack.

If the downward trend of the President’s popularity continues, Barry and Michelle have a unique opportunity to try and outdo the Clintons’ phony photo op: instead of bunking at a five-star hotel, sweethearts Mr. and Mrs. Obama can attempt to win back wayward voters by holding their noses to dance poolside on a budget getaway at a rinky-dink Holiday Inn.

Jeannie DeAngelis - The Consequences of the Clinton Curse

There are many peculiar aspects of the Anthony Weiner uproar. Take for instance Anthony’s hairless pectoral picture with the family photos in the background; Weiner holding up a “Me” sign in front of himself in another picture where a framed picture of an adorable Lhasa Apso can be seen off to one side; and, of course, the crotch shot heard round the world that could eventually land Anthony a cameo on a Fruit of the Loom® commercial where he could dress up as the fruit of his choice.

But by far the strangest aspect of this whole controversy is Slick Willy Clinton’s personal contribution to the fiasco, launching this lurid set of circumstances into new realms of irony.

Requesting that Bill Clinton participate in a marriage ceremony or provide guidance about how to handle a sex scandal is on par with asking Ted Bundy to be a grief counselor for parents of murdered women. Yet, Anthony Weiner and Huma Abedin, purportedly both intelligent individuals, apparently lack good judgment when seeking role models to pattern themselves after as examples of matrimonial bliss.

The saga started when the Clintons, neither of whom had much discernment when it came to choosing a mate for themselves, “encouraged the match between the Muslim beauty who grew up in Saudi Arabia and the Jewish Democrat from New York City.” Hopeless romantic Bill claims that for Weiner it was “love at first sight,” a match made in paradise because the couple represented what Weiner wanted “the future of the world to be.”

That world is like the one matchmakers Bill and Hillary inhabit – populated with longsuffering wives who, for political purposes, endure marital betrayal. Not to mention the latent potential in Anthony’s treatment of Huma to affect unstable Muslim/Israeli tensions.

If Weiner is really serious about saving his marriage he should spend some time reflecting. Maybe the congressman should hearken back to July of last year when Bill and Hillary hosted a “sumptuous” pre-wedding poolside buffet at their Washington home in honor of the New York Congressman and his soon-to-be bride, Hillary’s right-hand woman and Bill’s choice for a “second daughter,” Huma Abedin.

As if Clinton romance mediation and the subsequent engagement party weren’t enough, the future Mr. and Mrs. Weiner asked Bill to snap on a clerical collar and preside over their “forsaking all others” nuptials.

Unless presidents are granted special dispensation to marry people, Bill Clinton playing pastor could mean that Huma’s marriage to the guy who asks strange women if they want to see pictures of his “bulge,” officiated by a man who likes to drop his drawers in front of female state employees, may be null and void.

That would be a stroke of luck, because less than one year after the wedding, Weiner was forced to admit that while Huma was straightening the crease in Hillary’s tangerine-colored pantsuit, he was busy texting 220 dirty messages and planning a rendezvous with a female blackjack dealer in Las Vegas.

The only difference between Anthony David and William Jefferson’s situation is that although Huma has sought Hillary’s counsel, she has yet to blame the slimy affair on another “vast right wing conspiracy.”

Thus far the Weiner drama has Clinton involvement in matchmaking, a Clinton-hosted betrothal bash, Bill having to resist the urge to lean in after saying “kiss the bride,” and a scorned Huma asking Hillary Clinton for pointers on how to “stand by your man” versus pounding the sleaze ball into oblivion with the offending iPhone.

Now we find out Weiner, a man who couldn’t harness his impulsive urges, also fails to recognize the insidious nature of the Clinton curse. Seems the disgraced congressman, after being caught with his pants down, felt compelled to phone up Bill “to apologize” for his vulgar antics. “It wasn’t immediately clear what was said on the call,” but sources claim the “Clintons – who are deeply loyal to Abedin – are distressed by the ‘sexting’ scandal that Weiner immersed his wife in.”

Weiner apologizing to Clinton for being an adulterous cad is as preposterous as Barack Obama apologizing to Saul Alinsky for commencing his career in Chicago as a community organizer.

Isn’t it kind of odd to apologize for the same behavior practiced by the person from whom one seeks forgiveness? Maybe what the New York congressman meant to do was express regret for failing to follow Clinton’s fine example of manipulating words to such a degree that perverted extramarital “sexting” is magically accepted as innocuous banter.

Whatever the conversation, it seems the unscrupulous Clintons are “distressed by the ‘sexting’ scandal” because Weiner embarrassed his wife publicly. Somewhat like when America was ‘distressed’ by the married cigar aficionado/President of the United States lying about frolicking in the Oval Office with a White House intern?

In the familiar words of renowned author Mark Twain the Clinton/Weiner scenario proves: “Truth is stranger than fiction.” This is a sordid tale of a ruined relationship influenced by the chief cultivator of the Clinton curse. It is a tragic love story where a randy ex-president feigns disappointment over Congressman Anthony Weiner’s marital infidelity and pretends to be offended by the same type of immoral spectacle he himself foisted on America and then did everything he could to dismiss.
