Liberal Civil Rights Groups ask United Nations OCSE to Monitor 2012 Election in the United States

The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, the NAACP and the ACLU, among other groups, warned this month in a letter to Daan Everts, a senior official with the United Nations OSCE, of “a coordinated political effort to disenfranchise millions of Americans — particularly traditionally disenfranchised groups like minorities.”

Liberal-leaning civil rights groups met with representatives from the United Nations OSCE this week to raise their fears about what they say are systematic efforts to suppress minority voters likely to vote for President Obama.

“These activist groups sought assistance not from American sources, but from the United Nations, The United Nations has no jurisdiction over American elections.”

Star Parker - Voter Rights Are Not Free

Engraved large on one of the walls of the Korean War Veterans Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, DC are the words “Freedom is not free.”

It is sad that so many are unable or unwilling to appreciate the truth of this simple phrase or are ready to heed those who have or seek power who distort it.

I cannot think of anything hurting us more today than false and confused notions about the nature of the ideal of freedom.

Recently Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) appeared on Chris Matthews’ Hardball show and in discussion about voter ID laws he said that voting should be as easy as “getting a glass of fresh water.”

He equated requiring a picture ID to vote to Jim Crow laws and poll taxes.

It is particularly troubling to hear this from Lewis, a battle scarred veteran of the civil rights movement.

The National Mall and the streets of Washington are filled in the summer with tourists – many families with kids – visiting our Capital. They can see the collection of symbols and memorials across the Mall testifying to the truth that “Freedom is not free.”

A five minute walk from the Korean War Veterans Memorial is the new Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, which serves as a reminder of the struggles of the civil rights movement.

A few minutes in the other direction is the World War II Memorial.

And heading back around again you encounter the sad swath of black stone in which the names of over 50,000 lost in the war in Vietnam are engraved.

Looking out over it all at the base of the reflecting pool is Abraham Lincoln, who presided over the blood bath in which more than half a million Americans died in the internecine struggle for the nation’s survival and ideals.

A short ride over Memorial Bridge takes one to Arlington National Cemetery and the flowing green pastures filled with uniform white gravestones of our soldiers fallen fighting our many wars.

The struggle to protect and maintain a free society and to build on it so that we can continue to climb higher never ends.

Certainly someone who put his life on the line struggling for civil rights, like John Lewis, should know this.

How can he possibly conclude that voting – the privilege to make one’s voice heard as part of the ongoing deliberations central to our enterprise of advancing human freedom - should be as easy “as getting a glass of fresh water?”

A free society will soon not be free if the citizens in it see their freedom as something that should arrive effortlessly, free of personal responsibility, like the appearance of the morning sun. Black leaders do damage to our nation, and to our black citizens, to call requirements for a modicum of personal responsibility in order to vote racism.

A study published earlier this year by the Pew Center on the States characterized America’s voter registration system as “Inaccurate, Costly, and Inefficient.”

Among its conclusions are that “approximately 24 million voter registrations in the U.S. are no longer valid or significantly inaccurate; more than 1.8 million deceased individuals are listed as voters; approximately 2.75 million people have registrations in more than one state.”

In 2008, the Supreme Court considered Indiana’s voter ID law, which the NY Times then reported was “considered the strictest in the country,” and found it constitutional.

Every American should celebrate efforts requiring responsibility for clear proof of identity when registering to vote. And every American should appreciate the importance of efforts by states, like that taking place now in Florida, to update and ensure the honesty and integrity of voter files.

Freedom is not free. To the extent that Americans of any background do not appreciate this, we will long for the days when we were free.

Project Veritas - Ben Jealous, Bill Maher, and David Brock - Offered Ballot in Nation's Capitol

While the fight over voter fraud continues state by state, we wondered would D.C.'s poll workers hand us a ballot if we posed as Ben Jealous, head of the NAACP, Bill Maher, an HBO comedian who donated $1 million to re-elect Obama, or David Brock, head of Media Matters? Lurita Doan - A President Who Can Say No

What Americans need in our next president isn’t complicated. Given our nation’s pressing problems, we just need a president capable of saying “NO”. The United States is, once again, at an important turning point, brought to the brink by Barack Obama’s profligate spending. In order to reverse the damage caused by 4 years of Obama’s left-leaning, entitlement-driven, anti-business policies, the nation needs a leader who is willing to stop the fiscal hemorrhaging and just say “no”.

If America is to continue on its path of greatness, continue to be a beacon to the rest of the world, we must get our financial expenditures under control and create more private sector jobs. That is going to require an individual capable of taking a tough stance against further indulgent government expenditures, a leader willing to say – “no”.

Unfortunately, the list of projects, policies, individuals and organizations to whom “NO” must be said is growing quite long.

Say “no” to America-bashing-- Americans deserve a president who believes that we are an exceptional nation, capable of achieving everything that is good and great. We deserve a president who acknowledges and appreciates the extraordinary contributions in education, defense, industry, medicine, technology and philanthropy that Americans have made to the world in the past 236 years.

But don’t stop there—

Small businesses, entrepreneurs, and job creators are already groaning from the weight of the many and new regulations Obama has initiated in the past three and a half years, so say “no” to the regulatory stranglehold that is stifling our nation’s entrepreneurs.

Say “no” to further bailouts and allow the free market to determine winners and losers-- Solyndra's mind-boggling profligacy, squandering $523 million in taxpayer money in less than two years and filing for bankruptcy protection, should be incentive enough to--

Say “no” to subsidies for absurdly expensive energy schemes that yield little and do nothing to reduce the price of gas at the pump for the average American.

Say “no” to ethanol subsidies and the $6 billion annual gift to the ethanol lobby.

Say “no to expanding entitlements, whether they be food stamps, social security, Obamacare or Medicaid—we can’t afford it.

Say “no” to raising the debt limit; a $16.394 trillion debt ceiling is quite high enough.

Say “no” to bloated federal spending; the federal budget has tripled in three years and that, too, is enough.

Say “no” to czars. With over 40 czars pre-empting and usurping the responsibilities and authorities of their Senate-confirmed doppelgangers, is it any wonder that there is no accountability and no spending discipline?

Say “no” to union pandering—and don’t blame FOX News for your problems when greedy union negotiators demand more and more.

Say no to environmental extremists, who seek to reduce, or shut down, the new production of oil and gas in the name of “greening” the planet and “sustainability”.

Say “no” to dodgy schemes that encourage voter fraud, even when those schemes are advanced by your Attorney General as a way to ensure your re-election.

Say “no” to legal posturing that gives known terrorists more rights than average Americans.

Say “no” to spending more time attending re-election fundraisers than working on America’s problems.

Say “no” to endless rounds of golf—and claiming that important work is getting done.

Say “no” to selecting advisors and appointees who are known tax dodgers and charlatans as czars and Cabinet Secretaries.

Say “no” to incivility in political discourse so that our congress and executive branch agencies can return to working together for the good of all Americans. Of course, leading by example would be an excellent start.

Of course, there are many other areas in which “no” might need to be said—I’m sure I’ve missed a few.

But, as we approach November-- and unemployment remains at historic high levels, as the deficit continues to escalate, as federal government bloat continues, as entitlements expand regardless of our ability to pay for them, and as many in Washington continue to delude themselves into thinking that they can kick the can of accountability down the road for a few more years—responsible Americans , getting ready to vote for the next president of the United States, need to ask themselves one question: how good is this guy a saying “no” and sticking to it?

Doug Giles - IDs for Beer but Not for Ballots?

I was in Atlanta’s Hartsfield Airport recently and had a three-hour layover before I headed back to Miami. So, I did what any sensible gentleman would do—namely, I headed up to the Heineken Bar & Grill to get a beer and roast a fine puros before my plane ride home.

Upon arrival at the bar I found a table, jammed my carry-on underneath it, unzipped my secret 007 storage pouch, extracted my zebra skin cigar holder, and pulled from that sweet piece of leather a Padron 1964 Corona. After getting that bad boy ignited I yanked out my Mac and began to pound away on another common sense column certain to infuriate the progressives while simultaneously making Jesus love me more and more.

As I was sitting there getting into the zone, a waitress approached and asked me what I wanted to drink. I asked her if they had any Heineken. She didn’t get it at first … then she got it and said, “Dude, my day sucks enough as it is. Quit making it more miserable.” I said I was sorry and that I would like a Heineken, to which she replied, “Can I see your ID?” I told her I was flattered but am happily married. She retorted, “Don’t flatter yourself; we card everyone who orders alcohol. It’s the law.”

Check it out: I looked the legal age to swill a beer. I’ve got a full head of hair that might not be turning loose but is definitely turning gray. In addition to my graying locks, I have lines etched into my face from years of laughing my butt off at the inequities and absurdities of the Left, and I have well-developed crow’s-feet from looking down the barrels of guns from many, many cherished years of hunting. Suffice it to say, the waitress knew that I was at least 21—if not 51—but because it was the law she had to make proof positive that I wasn’t a 16-year-old with some weird disease that made me age prematurely into a 50-year-old smart ass.

When she asked me for my ID I didn’t cry racism, or drinking suppression, or call up Kofi Annan and request an international tribunal to cow this chick into beer-serving submission. No, instead I pulled out my ID and complied with the law and was then served a lukewarm Dutch beer.

This past week, Attorney General Eric Holder moved to make it illegal to prove that you’re legal in order to vote in Texas in 2012. I guess with Obama’s sagging poll numbers that Holder is concerned that the incumbent is going to get dusted come November if he doesn’t afford undocumented Democrats the wherewithal to vote early and often. Therefore, Holder wants to open up the floodgates in Tejas to the illegal alien hordes to make certain that el presidente gets four more years to further socialize what remains of our fair land.

As a Texan I think this is pure and uncut grade A horse scat, and I hope to God that my fellow Texans raise holy hell at this egregious overreach into state voting laws.

Call me weird, but if Texans have to brandish an ID to buy cigarettes or beer, coach a youth football team, see an R-rated movie, cash a check, buy Sudafed or spray paint, pick up their children from school early, rent a video, open up a P.O. Box, pick up tickets at will call for a Bon Jovi concert, or rent a kayak to float down the Guadalupe then I don’t think it is too much to ask that a person who waddles up to a voting booth to elect our next president prove that he or she is here legally. Voting is a sacred honor for legal citizens, and I pray to all that is holy that Texans fight Holder and his boss’s overreach into state voting laws like a pit bull.

Democrats Plead Guilty to Felony Charges in Voter Fraud Scandal in Troy, New York

Four Democratic operatives, including a city councilman, have pleaded guilty to felony charges in a voter fraud scandal to try to steal the primary election — this time in Troy, New York.

Fox News first broke the story nationally about the allegations that absentee ballots were forged in the 2009 primary in Troy of the Working Families Party, a group once associated with the defunct community group ACORN. Voters told Eric Shawn that they never signed absentee ballot applications and that ballots were cast in their names.

Shawn pointed out that Troy City Councilman Michael Loporto goes on trial next month along with the Democratic county elections commissioner. Loporto said that he did nothing wrong.

One of the Democratic operatives who pleaded guilty, Anthony Defiglio, told New York state police in 2009 that absentee ballot fraud works. “This is an ongoing scheme and it occurs on both sides of the aisle. The people who are targeted live in low-income housing and there is a sense that they are a lot less likely to ask any questions … what appears as a huge conspiracy to non-political persons is really a normal political tactic,” Defiglio said.

New Warnings in Presidential Primary Election Fraud Case

The state chairman of Indiana's Democratic Party resigned Monday (12/12/12) as a probe of election fraud in the 2008 Democratic presidential primary widened.

State law requires a presidential candidate to gather 500 valid signatures in each county to qualify for the ballot. Barack Obama may not have met it. Investigators think 150 of the 534 signatures the Obama campaign turned in for St. Joseph County may have been forged.

Yet Democrats say that measures to guard against vote fraud are racist Republican plots to disenfranchise minority voters.

Republicans "want to literally drag us back to Jim Crow laws," said Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, D-Fla, chair of the Democratic National Committee.

The NAACP has asked the United Nations to intervene to block state voter ID laws. It may have an ulterior motive for opposing ballot security measures. An NAACP official was convicted on 10 counts of absentee voter fraud in Tunica County, Miss., in July.

Note this statement from Liberal Democrats: "We have interviews of many accounts from caucus states recounting threats, intimidation, lies, stolen documents, falsified documents, busing in voters in exchange for paying for "dinners," etc. There are at least 2000 complaints, in Texas alone, of irregularities directed towards the Obama Campaign, that have lead to a very fractured and broken Democratic Party."
