Herman Cain - 9-9-9 The Movie

The Herman Cain campaign is getting creative in how they are explaining Cain's 9-9-9 plan to the country. The latest? A movie about 9-9-9, starring the tax code monster, the dorky tax code monster, slaves, the 82,000 page tax code, Herman Cain, Barack Obama, the IRS and more.

ChefM from WA - Understanding Herman Cain, Electric Fence and 999

Herman Cain has been climbing through the ranks lately with his bold approach and bold statements that seem to be resonating with the public. Some things were said in haste, such as his electric fence comment, but as he had stated, “it was a joke David”, in his Meet the Press interview with MTP host David Gregory. He had also stated at a different time, that the border needs to be secured. The left had a field day criticizing Cain for his statement, even to the extent of saying his “joke” would not resonate with the Latino community. They are saying that his statement was racist in some way.

This brings up a few very interesting question……….What exactly is racist about securing our borders in any way we see fit to ensure the safety and security of our citizens? What exactly is racist about an electric fence that would only deter “illegals” from crossing our borders? Why exactly would the Latino community be opposed to an electric fence? Yes, it wasn’t stated to be serious, other than to emphasize the seriousness of our border, and in particular, illegal immigration problems.

Those who follow the laws should not have issues with any means we take to secure the borders, unless they see it as a stranglehold on bringing friends and relatives over the borders illegally. At least Cain, even the simple fact that it was a joke, had the decency to mention that a sign would be posted warning of possible death if someone attempted to touch it. Maybe they are upset because he didn’t make it clear if the sign would be written in English or Spanish.

There are no rational reasons to be concerned about any means of securing the border, unless you are against that security in the first place. Liberals constantly cry about Conservatives and their goals and means of securing the borders. Why? .........Racism? ............... Hardly! They will claim humanitarian reasons, and many other nonsense reasons they are against secure borders, but it is becoming more and more obvious, the only reason that makes any sense as to why anyone would be in support of a this kind of drain on society, would be to secure a voting block for the Democratic party.

Personally, I am in favor of any means necessary to secure our borders, even if it means by way of an electric fence. As harsh as some may think it sounds, and the potential for dangerous illegal’s crossing easily over open borders, I would lose no sleep at night if I were to awaken to a news report, mentioning several potentially dangerous people were killed last night in an attempt to cross the US borders illegally, if that meant it saved just one American life.

Now I wonder if I am the only one who understands the analysis that Herman Cain uses when he talks of Apples and Oranges in his rebuttals to criticism over his 999 tax plan. During the recent debate aired on CNN with moderator Anderson Cooper, many Republican Presidential hopefuls went after Cain and his 999 plan, as expected, but I found myself sitting in my chair in frustration when others couldn’t grasp the concept of the Apples and Oranges analysis.

Federal Taxes are Apples. State Taxes are Oranges. The 999 plan deals with apples, not oranges. Confused yet? You shouldn’t be! You’re on tax tactics! Sorry, the scare tactics TV show reference couldn’t be resisted. Anyway, it’s really not that confusing. What the 999 plan does is replace the Federal tax code. It has zero to do with State taxes.

Now I think this is where the confusion comes in. Mitt Romney had the hardest time understanding this simple concept during the debate. What people seem to have the hardest time grasping is the percentage of Federal taxes at 9%, and keeps adding the State taxes to his plan which makes it look like it’s a larger sales tax without considering other factors.

Sure on paper, you would see a 9% sales tax, plus the percentage of taxes other States put on goods and services for State revenues. Those States with zero sales tax would see a tax hike, just in the fact that they are now being taxed on things they purchase.

Why are people not mentioning the hidden taxes we don’t see? The citizens in the no sales tax States such as Oregon and New Hampshire do pay sales tax. They just don’t see them. Once the 999 plan would be implemented, all those hidden taxes would disappear, and the prices of things people purchase would go down considerably. That added 9% Federal tax, would seem like a hike to many, but take out the hidden tax, add the 9% Federal tax, and the price is actually cheaper. Add in the fact that this tax is for new items only, meaning no double tax. So if someone buys a new car, and then sells that car, the person who purchases that now used car, would not pay any taxes. The tax on that vehicle has already been paid once, and therefore is not subject to more taxes. This goes for all purchases. What this plan also does is equal the playing field. Those who pay the majority of our taxes will pay 9%. There are no tax shelters for large corporations like GE who pay no taxes and actually get subsidized, so they get tax dollars while paying no tax dollars. This would stop.

This would also get those individuals who pay no taxes, such as the bottom 50% or so, to now pay taxes as they should to contribute to the things they and the rest of society uses, such as roads, bridges, schools, police, fire, military and other essential services.

These are all based on replacing the Federal tax code, the Apples, and have nothing to do with State taxes, the oranges. States will still have their own tax codes and won’t change. This whole 999 plan replaces the Federal, not State taxes.

Maybe it’s not a perfect plan, and maybe it needs to be tweaked a bit here and there, but if people understand it, it begins to make more sense, and is at least in the right direction compared to others who simply just want to reform the current corrupt tax codes. That would be like saying, lets reform Congress, but leave the same people there. Won’t work!!!

If Cain has a problem with his 999 plan, it’s getting people to understand it. I understood it, but I am also a non-politician citizen like he is, and seem to understand a simple solution to replace the old system that is broke, and like a car that has been totaled, you would have it replaced, not fixed.

Jeannie DeAngelis - ‘Breaking’ Herman Cain

Originally posted at American Thinker
Democrats continue to maintain that by electing Barack Obama, they alone were the pioneering influence in addressing the dark stain on our nation’s history called racism. The day after the 2008 election, African American writer Shelby Steele penned an article entitled “Obama’s post-racial promise.”

Steele argued that one reason Barack Obama won the
election was that the idea of electing America’s first black president “tapped into a deep longing in American life — the longing on the part of whites to escape the stigma of racism.” In other words, for whites tired of being accused of racism, electing Obama provided a viable avenue of escape.

Despite the historic milestone that was reached when Barack Obama was elected, the left felt it necessary after the fact to stand guard in the “Who’s a Racist” watchtower, declaring their party the self-appointed Racism Police. Ironically, what is more evident than ever before is that the left’s relentless defense of blacks has revealed the dark underbelly of the very intolerance they pretend to decry.

Shelby Steele argued that the election of Barack Obama assuaged a measure of white guilt; but the truth is that Democrats putting a black man in the Oval Office had little to do with skin color and everything to do with leftist political ideology. The very people who heralded the nation’s rising above a historical stigma are now instigating a deeper, wider division by redefining racism as political disagreement with Obama.

In fact, with the next presidential election hovering on the horizon, what is being proven is that while the motivation for electing Barack Obama in 2008 may have been an attempt to triumph over racism, with Herman Cain now rising in the polls, the hollow nature of racial acceptance by the left is being exposed for the ruse it is.

Presently, the bad news for African-Americans is that the only thing worse than being a white Obama detractor is being a right-leaning black. Cain’s candidacy confirms that if in 2008 Barack were a black conservative running against a white liberal, rather than being portrayed as a harbinger of “post-racial idealism” Obama would have been labeled an Uncle Tom.

What liberals fail to recognize is that, in much the same way they voted for Obama to supposedly embrace post-racism, assigning the title of racist to anyone who disagrees with liberal policies uncovers something ugly within themselves.

Democrats try to imply that black conservatives supporting Mr. Cain do so only because they identify with a deep and abiding self-loathing. The way Herman Cain is being characterized, it’s apparent the left still expects blacks to think less of themselves — an assumption that, if even suggested by someone on the right, would be immediately declared definitive proof of Republican racism.

Recently, MSNBC’s liberal race-baiter, Ed Schultz, suggested that Cain just tells racist whites what they want to hear and maligned him for mentioning potential running mates like Jim DeMint (R-SC), whose words the left have pseudo-linguistically-analyzed, finding hidden racist undertones where none exist.

In a perfect example of ideology determining the presence of prejudice, the supposedly color-blind liberal Schultz claimed that DeMint used “racist language in his opposition to ObamaCare.” In post-racial America, the South Carolina congressman is accused of “dark racial discourse” because he said, “If we are able to stop Obama on this [health care law], it will be his Waterloo. It will break him.”

Director of Afrikaner studies at Lehigh University, Dr. James Pearson, concurred with Schultz. Pearson interpreted the words “it will break him” as an “old southern racist term…used to destroy, mentally and physically, slaves.”

Clearly, the post-racial left is obsessed with transforming American politics into a perpetual test. Every word spoken by critics is summarily subjected to a filter where a benign word like “break” now implies approval of oppressive slavery. What Ed Schultz and liberals like him fail to recognize is that applying the “racist” rubric to every conservative utterance is, in essence, an attempt to “break” black candidate Herman Cain.

Yet its liberals who insinuate that Herman Cain is a man so self-hating that he gives “folks a pass” on racism. Those who make such peculiar accusations reveal themselves to be the true racists that Shelby Steele suggested had chosen to vote for Obama based on an unspoken promise to not hold the perception of racism against them. Yet racism is what shapes liberal opinion of a man whose conservative politics weaken their concepts of authentic blackness and whose race is secretly held against him by those on the left regardless of race.

By saying “It’s almost as if this guy is trying to warm up to them and tell them what they want to hear,” Schultz calls into question the black presidential candidate’s veracity, honesty, and commitment to foundational principles.

Is that how Democrats view all black men, or just Herman Cain? The left seems convinced that Cain panders to “white Republicans, who don’t like black folks,” which ends up being evidence of insidious racism that implies blacks are somehow unlikeable. Moreover, it suggests Herman Cain can’t think for himself and hasn’t the ability or character to possess core convictions of his own.

Listening to Ed Schultz, one would think the confident, articulate Herman Cain is a race-baiting manipulator who uses empty words in his quest for power and uses as stepping-stones the overburdened shoulders of his own people. Sound familiar?

The MSNBC drone also believes Cain does a “disservice to his race” by denying that “racism in this country today holds anybody back in a big way.” What Ed Schultz, who most certainly voted for Obama, fails to acknowledge is that if Obama had been uneducated, he would never have been elected president, proving correct Cain’s premise that education, not skin pigmentation, holds black Americans in bondage to poverty and low achievement.

The left continues to portray Democrats as something they are not, and do so by attempting to point out non-existent racial hostility on the part of political adversaries. Yet despite the effort, something the left didn’t anticipate was that the candidacy of Herman Cain, not the election of Barack Obama, would end up exposing the party where America’s true racists reside.

Liberals prove Shelby Steele’s premise to be true — their support of Barack Obama holds little weight or evidence of racial reform on their part. It’s all about power and ideology. If that weren’t so and lasting change had really taken place, being at odds with Obama wouldn’t be considered racism, nor would smearing potential black presidential candidate Herman Cain be so widely accepted by the left.

Art Laffer - Herman Cain's "9-9-9 Is A Wonderful Plan"

Businessman Herman Cain saw Mitt Romney's 23 percent support rating in the latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll and raised him 4 points to take the lead in the latest survey of Republican White House hopefuls.

The former CEO of Godfather's pizza garnered 27 percent support in the telephone poll released Wednesday night, more than five times the 5 percent support he had in August. Romney's 23 percent remained the same.

Cain, a successful motivational speaker, has been gaining traction in recent weeks as an alternative to Romney, a former Massachusetts governor who is unpopular among many factions of the Republican party despite his near-constant frontrunner status.

Herman Cain's Economic Plan Starting to Pick Up Steam

Why is Herman Cain resonating with the American Citizenry?

We are looking for someone who has solutions and is a success in Life and Business.

Someone who knows how to 'Solve Problems' - NOT cause problems like the 'Community Organizer now occupying the White House.

Washington needs to have fundamental substantive changes in taxes and spending.

Most of the rest of the GOP Candidates are saying, I'm going to do a little less of what was done before and Barack Obama is saying, I'm going to do a lot more of what I've been doing.

Herman Cain's 999 Plan

Herman Cain grew up in Atlanta, Georgia with loving parents and little else. His father worked three jobs—as a janitor, a barber and a chauffeur—and his mother was a domestic worker. Even though these jobs required hard work and little glamour, his parents knew this life was better than the dirt farms upon which they grew up. They also knew that this hard work was the key to achieving their American Dreams.

Vision for Economic Growth
  • The natural state of our economy is prosperity. Freedom ensures that.
  • We must get the government off our backs, out of our pockets and out of our way in order to return to prosperity.
  • Policy uncertainty is killing the economy.
Economic Guiding Principles
  1. Production drives the economy, not spending.
    • We can not spend our way to prosperity.
    • Government spending IS taxation.
    • Government spending is like taking a bucket of water from the deep end of the pool, pouring it in the shallow end. Then they HOPE that the water level will CHANGE.
  2. Risk taking drives growth.
    • Business formation and job creation are dependent on entrepreneurs taking risks.
    • Investors who fund those entrepreneurs likewise take risks.
  3. Measurements must be dependable.
    • A dollar must always be a dollar just as an hour is always 60 minutes.
    • Sound money is crucial for prosperity.
We Must Unite Not Divide
  • When one party seeks to spend so that the other party must focus on cutting, we must unite around economic growth.
  • Unite all tax payers, don’t divide them into “income” tax payers vs. “payroll” tax payers.
  • Unite those wanting to eliminate deductions with those seeking lower rates.
  • As a first step, unite the “Flat-Taxers” with the “Fair-Taxers”.
Economic Growth is the Key
  • This is the worst recovery since the Depression.
  • If the President’s goal was to tie for last place with the previous worst recovery, he failed by 6 million jobs.
  • If we had a typical recovery, 13 million more Americans would be employed today.
  • That means more tax revenue, less government spending and 13 million less people opposed to reasonable spending cuts.
  • The Super Committee must deliver a robust growth solution.
  • America can’t wait for 2012, we need growth NOW.
Phase 1 - Immediate Boost
  • As I have outlined, the following represent the minimum for feeding the economic engine and are the “low hanging fruit” offering the most “bang for the buck”.
  • Reduce individual and business income taxes to a maximum 25%.
  • Eliminate taxes on repatriated foreign profits and capital gains.
  • The capital gains tax is a wall separating those with ideas from those with money.
  • Why would we want to wall off those with ideas? That’s where we get business formation, job creation and innovation.
  • When companies sell products overseas they face double taxation when those profits are brought home (repatriation) to invest in America and pay its workers.
  • Companies don’t ship jobs overseas, Liberals ship capital overseas and the jobs merely follow.
Phase 1 - Enhanced Plan
  • Current circumstances call for bolder action.
  • The Phase 1 Enhanced Plan incorporates the features of Phase One and gets us a step closer to Phase two.
  • I call on the Super Committee to pass the Phase 1 Enhanced Plan along with their spending cut package.
  • The Phase 1 Enhanced Plan unites Flat Tax supporters with Fair tax supporters.
  • Achieves the broadest possible tax base along with the lowest possible rate of 9%.
  • It ends the Payroll Tax completely – a permanent holiday!
  • Ends the Death Tax.
  • Business Flat Tax – 9%.
  • Gross income less all investments, all purchases from other businesses and all dividends paid to shareholders.
  • Empowerment Zones will offer additional deductions for payroll employed in the zone.
  • Individual Flat Tax – 9%.
  • Gross income less charitable deductions.
  • Empowerment Zones will offer additional deductions for those living and/or working in the zone.
  • National Sales Tax – 9%.
  • This gets the Fair Tax off the sidelines and into the game.
Phase 2 – The Fair Tax
  • Amidst a backdrop of the economic boom created by the Phase 1 Enhanced Plan, I will begin the process of educating the American people on the benefits of continuing the next step to the Fair Tax.
  • The Fair Tax would ultimately replace individual and corporate income taxes.
  • It would make it possible to end the IRS as we know it.
  • The Fair Tax makes our exported goods and services the most competitively internationally than any other tax system.
Phase 1 Enhanced Plan – Summary
  • Unites all tax payers so we all pay income taxes and no one pays payroll taxes.
  • Provides the least incentive to evade taxes and the fewest opportunities to do so.
  • Lifts a $430 billion dead-weight burden on the economy due to compliance, enforcement, collection, etc.
  • Is fair, neutral, transparent, and efficient.
  • Ends nearly all deductions and special interest favors.
  • Ends all payroll taxes.
  • Ends the Death Tax.
  • Features zero tax on capital gains and repatriated profits.
  • Lowest marginal rates on production.
  • Allows immediate expensing of business investments.
  • Dividend deductibility will help retirees, improve accounting, and moderate stock-option driven executive compensation.
  • Increases capital formation. Capital per worker drives productivity and wage growth.
  • Capital formation will aid capital availability for small businesses.
  • Features a platform to launch properly structured Empowerment Zones to revitalize our inner cities.
  • We all know the Fed has tripled the money supply since 2008. They have been printing money out of thin air to finance the Obama spending machine. While true Fed reform that restores sound money may have to wait for my election, the best thing we can do now is to pursue policies that increase the DEMAND for dollars to help mitigate the risks associated with the increase in the supply.
  • Pro-growth economic policies equal a strong dollar policy
